We stayed here in August and had a clean comfortable room in a pleasant park like setting. The staff was welcoming but not very helpful when we had a minor problem in our room. The dinner in the dining room was about the worst meal we have had in our lives -- greasy, tough and tastless meats -- which, with the current exchange, was very very expensive. There's a nice chinese restaurant a short walk away, eat there.

Lovely hotel about 15 mins walk from the Cathedral and shopping area. Free parking
Staff: Efficient, friendly and polite

Rooms: Decor rather dated ,but room was clean. Bathroom clean and well appointed.

Booked Dinner bed and breakfast. Excellent value. food was good

It is not a hotel, but rather a quaint little B&B or maybe even large enough to be called an Inn. The hotel did lack ambiance tho. it was exceptionally quiet. Even at supper there were about 14 people total, but people spoke in hushed tones. Reminded me of a nursing home at supper time when patients are just focused on eating their meal. Not an atmosphere conducive to lingering over ones meal.
Despite the lack of atmosphere I would stay here again as the place was good value for money and well located for a pre-cruise 1 night stay en-route to Dover . The Cathedral is definitely worth a visit.

There is a Best-Western Hotel down the road for those looking for a larger hotel which also looked nice from the outside.

Lovely period hotel about fifteen minutes walk to the centre of Canterbury. Room was large and the dinner and breakfast was of an excellent standard. The staff at the hotel made my seven year old daughter very welcome and they had an excellent childrens menu that they were very happy to adapt to suit the more fussy eater. Plenty of towels in the room and the bed was very comfortable. Decorated to a high standard and within keeping. Lovely swimming pool and hot tub that is open early for a swim before or just after breakfast before you start your day. The staff were really friendly and the garden was very pretty. The room was very clean.

The Ebury is a refreshing change from the Hiltons etc, where you wake up to the same furnishings and pictures in every city!
OK - the decor is old-fashioned (although it all seems pretty new) but the staff are friendly & helpful, rooms clean, beds comfortable and the breakfasts great (albeit so large they leave you feeling guilty about the waste because they are impossible to finish). The garden is lovely - as is Charlie the labradoodle (see website).
Just a few gripes: The duvets and pillows are synthetic, which smacks of a cheap B&B. And although my single room had everything I needed for two nights it was the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, and was pretty noisy from 8am. Compared to my parents' double, it wasn't good value. If you are travelling alone, I'd recommend paying a little more fore a double.
Also, while waiting for my parents to get ready for our family party I asked for a glass of dry white wine. Only a medium white was available by the glass. (I passed on that one!) I was suprised, as the dinner menu, which I didn't get to try, seems quite sophisticated.
Gripes aside, I would use this hotel again, mainly because of the staff and the location.
