“A hidden gem in the historic heart of Canterbury”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

On the 2nd floor above Waterstone's on St Margaret's street, this lovely cafe is popular with both regular locals and tourists. They serve delicious home made cakes and soups, do great coffee (and I'm fussy!), have lovely friendly staff, a relaxed friendly atmosphere, fantastic views over the roof-tops of Canterbury and the Cathedral and FREE broadband.

“Great little break, for a Bookworm”
Reviewed 22 January 2012

I like this place because of the spirit of a previous nanny who fell to her death down the main stair well, when this place was a private dwelling in the 1850's she still makes her presence felt, as does the ghost of the Roman Centurion in the cellar who messes with the books during stocktakes and spells the letters IX the number of his garrison, in yellow spined books every year. Spooky but the girls who serve are sweet and the food it lovely, try their shortbread with a cup of earl grey tea smashing!

“great sandwiches on thich handcut bread”
Reviewed 7 January 2012

Nice cafe with a selection of books to read, chess and board games to play, even a rocking horse for children - my family enjoyed it! One visit was during an extremely busy time and there was a long wait and a few mistakes with our orders, but the staff were helpful and friendly.

Had a jacket potatoe it must have been doing the rounds for a while. My friend asked if it was normal but did not get an answer. Coffee was just warm. On top of this it was expensive
