This is the most sophisticated and interesting modern architecture in Canterbury yet works in the context of an ancient city. It is elegant and stylish and provides a new, more cosmopolitan environment for the much enhanced programme that can now attract major opera and ballet companies, great drama as well as musicals and the usual popular shows. The new restaurant is an excellent development with an apealing menu of dishes, with most ingredients being locally sourced. The main auditorium is beautiful with very good sightlines and acoustics, and the studio theatre provides opportunities for an array of new drama and other events. My only criticism is that a second staircase has not been provided to reduce congestion at the end of the show. In brief, a triumph.
