One of Canterbury's best budget hotels

Review of Pilgrims Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Apr 2023
Stayed for one night in a single room. The price was 72 pounds which was one of the cheapest in the area. The hotel is in an excellent location being just off the high street. The hotel was clean and modern, I was particularly impressed with the style of the downstairs lobby. Staff were friendly and attentive. My room was small, but it was clean and well equipped so this was not an issue for me. Overall this is a fantastic hotel for the price and location. Would stay here again.

Rooms were clean and tidy but the Wi-Fi was truly terrible - couldn’t even download emails. Downstairs renovations meant a strong paint smell everywhere and got very loud in the evenings. Service was rather apathetic.

Room tip: Don’t rely on the hotel Wi-Fi

This was a lovely little gem, just off the main shopping street. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. I had a lovely little single room, with plenty tea, coffee & biscuits. It was clean, modern, lovely and warm - I’m actually really glad I couldn’t get a single room in same hotel as my friends did!

Room tip: Dining room and bar looked a bit basic - brilliant for an overnight stay - room was top class!

I totally recommend this hotel in the heart of Canterbury. If you are visiting the Marlowe theatre then this is the perfect location for your stay. I was greeted by helpful staff who were very knowledgeable about Canterbury town. I couldn’t fault the rooms and the breakfast with a choice of pastries and fruit was delicious. Thank you

You couldn't find a more convenient hotel if you're attending the Marlowe. Just across the road! However be aware that steep narrow stairs are involved (no lift - the buidling is a few centuries old after all!). I did wonder a bit about security: the front door is open, and often there is no one at reception. No cooked breakfast, but plenty of cold options. My single room was pretty basic but location and helpful staff made up for any shortfalls.

Central, and just lovely! I’d stay there again. Friends and I visited our student children. I couldn’t get into same hotel, so opted for this little gem - bedroom and en-suite were were clean, smart, cosy and comfortable. My room looked exactly the same as it did on the website. It was just me, so I didn’t need a double, and didn’t want to pay double either! This was seventy something pounds. I did see some of the doubles on my way out, and they were the same standard as my little single.

Room tip: I didn’t use restaurant or bar
