Owner description: Open to all and located in the heart of Canterbury's tourist route, you will find the Kent Museum of Freemasonry close to the Westgate Towers and a five minute stroll from the Cathedral. Entrance is free of charge, although voluntary donations are welcomed. The Museum is an Accredited Museum, meeting the nationally agreed standards of the Arts Council on collection care, museum management and the provision of information and services to visitors. The museum is a hidden treasure which boasts a rare collection of exhibits of national and international importance. Its collection of Masonic material is probably the finest in the UK outside of London.

“Very well presented”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

Museum is very well presented and laid out with volunteers at hand to answer questions. Would highly recommend to both Masons and non Masons for an informative glimpse of Kent freemasonry

“Very educational”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Answered a lot of questions that we had and didn't know we had. Very enlightening. A relatively new museum that has been very thoughtfully laid out with interactive multimedia.

Thank you for your visit and kind comments. Like any good museum one of the things we try to do is educate. Please come and see us again when you're in Canterbury.

“Okay”

We thought we would have a look round. However, we didn't feel welcome. We still looked round quickly, there were some interesting things in there.

“Not open”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

We walked the full length of the High Street, not easy when we are both disabled, even called in to Information Centre to get directions, on arrival it was all shut up and there was no notice saying when it would be open again. We were worn out by the time we got back to the car!
Not worth the effort!!

Thank you for your visit and your feedback. I am sorry that we were not open on the day of your visit. Our museum is manned 100% by volunteers which is one of the reasons that we are a free of charge attraction. However this does mean that on occasion we are unable to open the full published hours. Please do not let this discourage you from coming to see us again.

“Interesting”
Reviewed 25 March 2013

Very interesting for those interested in the masons, and for those who are not. Lots of attractive artefacts and paintings to look at. This museum is based on the North and south kent freemasons, but still very interesting, and a lot of history in there!
