“Absolutely great!”

Salt is wonderful, we ordered nearly everything on the menu and it was fab - not one disappointment. Service was impeccable and we had a fantastic time.

“Amazing food. ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

The food is amazing. I didn't really 'get' their setup of only doing starter sized portions. We (a couple) ordered 4 of these to share between us and for lunch this was enough, but they were edging on the pricey side of things. Not just as expensive as a main but certainly over prices for the quantity.

“Rustic charm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends. It certainly lived up to, if not exceeded, our expectations. Just off the main high street it exudes rustic charm, creativity, a certain uniqueness with the choice and style of presentation of the food, a relaxed dining experience coupled with excellent service and quality of food. Salt offers tapas style/sized portions from a regularly changing menu which is displayed on a blackboard. We had five dishes (goats cheese balls covered in almonds, meatballs, crab, beetroot and cheddar cheese flatbread and the duck confit hash) between the two of us with new potatoes and a fresh green salad as sides. For dessert we had the chocolate fondant and the raspberry parfait with crushed shortbread. All of the dishes were creatively presented and bursting with flavour.

We observed the owner reviewing the menu with the chef at the end of the evening and discussing his next amazing culinary creations. As another reviewer has commented the ambience and style of presentation and quality of the food is similar to the Sportsman but, if anything, the service here was better. if I was going to be really critical, I would like to have seen a more extensive wine list with the wines more competitively priced. But overall, we had an excellent evening. This really is a foodies' paradise and we will be back very soon.

“Something different”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Loved this rustic little restaurant. British tapas, freshly cooked, imaginative dishes and very reasonably priced wine. Very good waiting staff and a great atmosphere.

“Awesome Concept, great food, fantastic restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Finally something genuinely new in Canterbury. There seem to be a lot of copy cat restaurants in Canterbury at the moment but certainly not this place, the food was amazing, all freshly cooked and very seasonal and the tapas concept combined with British food is really good as you get to try a few different things rather than just one dish. Also have to complement the service which was very good. Very impressed and will defiantly be returning. I recommend the lamb meatballs and mint sauce, and the chocolate fondant (one of the best I have ever tasted)
