“Nice location, makes you feel part of Canterbury”
Reviewed 13 August 2013

Tudor House is well situated close to the cathedral in Canterbury. There is no parking, but we were provided with a voucher and directions to a public parking lot a short distance away. When we first made arrangements we needed an extra bed in our room for a child. The hosts were concerned that we might feel cramped, but compared to some "historic" hotels on the continent, space was not really a problem. The breakfast was very nice and there was free WiFi. The only complaint would be noise at night and in the morning (which is certainly out of the hosts' control). The first night we were there, Wednesday, was very noisy until midnight with lots of tourists (pilgrims?) on the street. Then, in the morning, workmen started on the building across the street at 7AM. The strange thing though was that the next night, Thursday, was absolutely quiet. So noise is unpredictable. If you are a light sleeper, you may want a room off the street. Overall we're happy we stayed at Tudor house.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street may be noisy.

Definitely recommend Tudor House !! We had a lovely time there, received a very warm welcome from our host, had room number 4 on the second floor (very Canterbury-looking, comfy, cosy and very quiet).
Great breakfast, very complete and home made.
Next time we plan to stay in Canterbury, we know where to go :)
Thank you Mazi !!!

Room Tip: Room n.4 was perfect - nice street view + fireplace !

i recently return to The Tudor House in Canterbury for my fourth annual visit. It was as good as ever. Mamad and Mazi run, a quiet, neat and tidy guest house. It is ideally located in the centre of the city. The Cathedral is a mere 5 minute walk away. The rooms are well furnished and while the facilities are shared, they are spotless and close at hand. The owners Mamad and Mazi are really friendly and hospitable. Try the Tudor house; you wont regret it!

The house is clean, the beds are clean, the breakfast tableware is clean.
The location is perfect, just in the center of Canterbury but in a quiet street.
It's an antique house, recovered to receive guests. It's not a luxury house, it's a very cosy home, with some pieces of beautiful furniture. We couldn't find a way to put the room with less sunlight in the morning, the curtains weren't opaque, and we're not used to it. The breakfast is ok.
The owner is a very-very nice person, always worried about if everything was all right with us. We asked for a hairdryer, a travel adaptor for the electricity and for him to make us a phone call we needed, and he was really helpful.
Absolutely recommended!

I found The Tudor House in 2000 and have stayed there every year with my group because it is simply charming! The owners, Mamad and Mazi, are wonderfully gracious hosts and do everything to insure that we have a nice stay. This 500 year-old house is quaint with many modern conveniences and all of the historical charm. This guest house is located on Best Lane inside the city center and in close walking distance to all that Canterbury has to offer. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and a great value for the money. The breakfast is delicious and cooked to order while you enjoy the beautiful decor of the breakfast room. Of course there is also wi-fi so that we can stay connected to our family and friends while on holiday. I LOVE The Tudor House and would never stay anywhere else. I can't wait to be back next spring with another group and trek back to the time of Becket, Henry II, Canterbury Cathedral, and the Tudors. Adieu until next year!

Spent there 2 nights and loved it, as my husband and 6 yrs old daughter did. B&B is in the very heart of the old city. The family room ("K") is clean, large and comfortable, with ensuite restroom + bathroom of exclusive usage on the same floor. Small area with armchairs and coffee/tea facilities much appreciated. Guests are adorable, exquisite, and gave us precious hints about the city (not the same hints as always, they were specific, interesting, particular). I would recommend Tudor House and I definitely hope to stay there again soon.

Regardless of the good localisation and the tidiness of the place, the owner, who is also responsible to 'welcoming' the guests is a rude and nasty person.
Despite me and my colleagues (we were staying there to attend to a 3 days conference with a intense social program) had told him that would not be possible to check-in before 7pm, as they request in their thousand rules, he passed the whole time complaining about the time that we arrived.
But as it was not enough, in the last night when we arrived at the hotel after our closing party of the conference, he was awake, waiting for us just to disqualify and devalue us for the time that we arrived, for the way that we walk through the hotel, for our age and nationality!!!UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
This guy is definitely running the wrong business!
