“Very good value for money.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2011

The hotel is situated directly on the left off the London Road round-about and might easily be missed if you are not aware of the location.

The car park is a very good size and the path to the hotel Reception is as per the photographs on the web-page. A wonderful display of flowers! There are some table/benches to the left of the pathway and shade is provided by the trees alongside.

We were given a room on the first floor which was large, clean and tidy. Hairdryer and trouser press also in the room. Tea/coffee/biscuits provided daily. Breakfast can be either 'light' (buffet style continental) or 'full' English - both very filling!

We did not have a meal in the Carvery of the hotel or a drink in the bar. However, the area looked very comfortable with leather seating.

The city is a casual 10-15 minute walk and if you chose to go through the park you will see a marvelous display of flowers and the clear river flowing alongside.

If we were to return to Canterbury, we would stay here again.

We had a family room which was very spacious. Nice comfortable beds for the children too. In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant which we liked very much. Unfortunately the bathroom was in our opinion a real disaster. Moldy !!! We had to ask to change the shower curtain and the shower knob was very sloppy. Housekeeping tried to clean it on our request, futile. Also around the bathtub, fungus is growing with lots of enthusiasm. The location is OK, you can easily walk to the centre of Canterbury. There is a busy roundabout, just in front of the hotel. I suggest you ask for a room at the rear.

We stayed in the flat which was excellent, a very large bathroom with bath and a shower, good sized double bedroom and kitchen diner with 2 flat screen TV's. Breakfast is either full english or continental in a very pleasant dining room. Lunch and Dinner offers a very nice carvery or a good range of a la carte meals all reasonably priced. Ample parking space at the back and well positioned within 20 minutes walk of centre. A 3 star rating but worth every penny!!

A pub with hotel accomodation and loads of free parking, all of which make for a pretty good combination. The location is ideal for leaving the car and walking to the major attractions of Canterbury. The staff were friendly enough, but didn't go the extra mile for their guests. Housekeeping was adequate but not brilliant. Nice big bathroom, lots of hot water, but mold growing behind the taps due to poor air flow. We noticed that the hotel are in the process of replacing the beds in the guest rooms which, if ours was anything to go by, is just about due. Bedroom was a good size, with adequate closet and drawer space. Ventilation appears to be an issue in this hotel, since many doors are wedged open during daytime. Rooms have no airconditioning, but a fan is provided in each room. Even though there are issues with this hotel, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others; however we do hope that the owners will take note of guests comments and seek to address some of the issues, especially that of a lack of ventilation.

I have stayed here a few times. It is on the outskirts but for Canterbury it is reasonably priced. The decoration in the main building is a little tired. There is what looks like a newer annexe at the rear and I cannot comment on this as I have always stayed in the main building.
The rooms I have stayed in have all had free view TV and free broadband access.
Breakfast is extra but very good.
Rooms looking out on the main road can be noisy especially if like me you like to sleep with a window open.

An old-fashioned combination hotel and restaurant and bar located on the southwest side of Canterbury off the main highway. It caters to older guests who have greater expectations of service and cleanliness, so what you have is a clean, well-run establishment at a reasonable price without too many extras (unless you count the in-room trousers press). The attached restaurant is nothing fancy, but its carvery is good and the location is convenient especially since the Victoria is also on the edge of a residential area and the nearest eating places are in the town centre, a good 20-minute hike. In-room cable TV, but no wi-fi.

An excellent base for sightseeing in Canterbury. Just under 1km walk into the city centre along quiet roads and through a park. Bus stop nearby if you are too weary to walk back.
Staff were friendly and helpful at this family owned hotel. Room clean and comfortable, well stocked tea and coffee making facilities, extra point for fair trade hot chocolate!
