“Glen has gone”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

We have used this restaurant on many many occasions and have loved it . Knowing that Glen (the former owner) had left we went with an open mind last week for a meal. The meal was OK
although we were disappointed to find that the menu had lost both the lamb dish and slow cooked pork dish for which the pub is famous for. There was plenty of staff and the guy behind the bar welcoming but there was no atmosphere an although the chef came out to the bar he made no effort to speak to us although we were sitting at the table and had finished our meal. This has always been a foodie pub that has been full of laughter, superb food and a good night out. It badly needs some personality behind it to prevent it becoming yet another managed pub.

“Outstanding - absolute must to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

As a Londoner I love a good country pub to get away to and this surpassed all expectations.

Fantastic decor - contemporary and fun pieces mixed with vintage in keeping with it's surroundings. Has a great gastro feel.

Service was fantastic, staff couldn't do more for us and we were made to feel right at home! Quite dangerous considering the variety of alcohol available!

Highly recommend eating there. My husband had steak and I the lobster and for that alone I would go back. The landlord Chris knows the history of all his produce and his passion really shows in the great quality and value of his food.

All in all a cracking pub with 5* food in a trendy environment cannot recommend enough! Just need to nag the husband to take me back ASAP!

“Beer and Food puts you in the mood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

The Old Coach and Horses at Harbledown is quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Canterbury city centre, just a stones throw away from it all. Here you can sit down and relax, enjoy good beer, and food. while the staff look after you and ensure you enjoy your drinks and food. All in all a good pub with a good attitude towards its customers.

“A Canterbury don't miss!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

We visited Canterbury all 8 of us for a weekend and found this great pub just outside the city but easily within walking distance.

Pretty as a picture outside and offering Sunday roasts we had fingers crossed that thy would be able to fit us in. What a welcome.

The host was lovely, she showed us upstairs to a large table in a sunny room with doors open to the terrace. This was looking good. Orders taken for drinks , menus handed out and water for everyone.

The pub was quite busy and seemed to have a good crowd of regulars which is always a good sign that people keep coming back.

Now we are a fussy lot but the menu offered up some great starters and with a selection of 3 roasts of the day and more there really was something for everyone.

My starter of king prawns was bigger and as good as any I have eaten in any restaurant and the homemade soups and pates my fellow diners had were they agreed as good as they had eaten too.

Rare roast beef for me, well done for mum, breast meat for brother, leg meat for uncle we asked and we received. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone wanted Yorkshires and stuffing excepting the fish order!

Our meals arrived hot and with enough veg to meet our 7 a day requirement. Nothing worse than a cold roast with not enough potatoes (bachus pop up please note!). Crispy roasties, fresh veg and lovely gravy. It was all delicious and plenty of it. We shared a couple of desserts (would have been rude not to) and were shown out to the seated area on the terrace to finish our wines and coffees and soak up the sun.

This was we all agreed the perfect ending to a great weekend, lovely pub great welcome good service and lovely food. Good value for money and we are all going back soon.
