“A Pleasant Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2010

This is the second time we have stayed at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel and both times have been a pleasant experience. The hotel does not pretend to be something it isn’t and I have found the staff to be very polite and helpful, the receptionist even remembered us from our previous visit. In my opinion it offers great value for money for a four star hotel. We stayed in a standard room which had everything in it that you would expect and was obviously cleaned to a high standard. We were out of the hotel in the evening so missed dinner but the breakfast was really good, with lots of choice and it was all included in the price we paid. This time we got to spend some time in the hotels leisure facilities, which were fantastic. We had promised ourselves a spa treatment but we didn’t have time to fit them in as we were only there for a short time, but we will return soon to do just that!

I recently went to this hotel for a break over the Christmas period to make a change from the normal family christmas' spent at home. The hotel itself is average, probably not 4 star standard but no real complaints. However, the worst part of this hotel is the restaurant. Christmas lunch is obviously a hugely important aspect to the holiday season, if not the most important and I have to say the food was dissapointing. My instant reaction was "I've had school dinners better than this." It certainly seemed as though the microwave is probably their best friend at Bridgewood Manner. On the other days, it was a poorly reheated buffet for breakfast and dinner, and for the price it wasnt really what I had expected and did'nt think it was up to standard, Edible at most. When we booked the programme said there would be "Entertainment", which there was.....sort of. Lot's of entertainment events on the programme seemed to not exist (such as a magician), although we were reassured that the said magician was around for roughly 10 minutes in the lobby - Why not a perfectly good stage in the dining area where the majority of people were? However, Despite this, the room seemed to be of good quality. It looked as though it has been well maintained and had been kept clean, the room had a very modern ensuite bathroom which was again, well maintained and clean. The facilites seem good (although were not open much over the christmas period unfortunatly) with a pool, spa e.t.c. There is one point in particular however, that is definitely worth congratulating. - Although having to work over the Christmas period can be annoying, all the staff were extremely polite, friendly and hospitable and seemed to work efficiently and want to do the best by the guests. When we arrived to check in we were given a warm welcome which is always nice when you finally arrive after a long drive, and I feel all should be congratulated on superb customer service. In closing, I hope that any shortfalls were due to the stress and limitations during christmas time, and im sure that at any other time of the year this hotel is a nice place to stay.

Stayed in this hotel for one week in January 2010. The hotel is very comfortable with very good amenties. A large car park is situated in front of the hotel and as soon as you enter inside the hotel you are greeted by efficient staff. The reception is also very welcoming with a fireplace on one side and several sofas around the reception area. There is also a pool and a gym. We had a double room and the heating was perfect. It is to be noted that outside it was -3 degrees celsius. The food was also good but a bit expensive as was the bar. overall I would recomned this hotel to anyone who intends to visit Chatham, Gilingham, Rochester, or Maidstone. On the down isde the common area of the ground floor rooms are in need of a referbishment, otherwise nothing else to complain about.

I have just returned from a night away at this hotel. this was a Birthday present for my husband. We were happy with our room although the corridor we were in was being redecorated so we had to negotiate ladders and workmen. I'm sure when redecoration is completed the hotel will have less run down feel.
We used the pool, jacuzzi and sauna . We enjoyed these. The changing rooms were spacious but tatty. My husband used the gym and some of the equipment was broken.
My main disappointment was the meal in the restaurant. The portions were mean and it was not special for the price. The menu did not seem as good as the sample on the web.In our room there was an offer of free wine with a 3 course meal but this could not be used if a package had been booked. So booking a package was probably no saving. From our room we were disturbed by noise from the lift from 6am
We had no complaints about the buffet breakfast and the staff were pleasant

I've grown up in the nearby area and have visited this hotel for Christmas functions, weddings etc so I knew a little bit about the hotel to start off with. We were warned it was a little over starred but we needed a hotel for the location and the price as we managed to get a late booking via a travel agent.

The hotel is very very dated, slightly Argos looking in terms of furniture but all the same it was very clean, welcoming and airy etc. The room was fairly small but again clean, no mini-bar or fridge which I definitely expected for a 4 star hotel. Reception staff put us at the back of the hotel as there was a 40th birthday party going on that night but we were going out until very late anyway so it didn't matter as much - however it was a nice gesture. Back to the room, basic to be honest, average to nice bathroom and not many complaints. Its a very impersonal hotel and its represented in the rooms heavily.

We went to get some food on our arrival at the bar which reading the reviews, didn't get a very good right up. Its EXTREMELY pricey (£13.25 for fish and chips!!!! There was NOTHING to merit this price whatsoever - how can anyone justify the price for that?????) but unless you want to go and buy food from Asda that's all you can do as there are no restaurants nearby. We requested if we were allowed to order a pizza in. Answer was no. How did we guess that was the answer! I can only believe that its not the sort of establishment that lets you order takeaway to your room - but on the same hand the barman called me "mate" which I don't think it adds up very well. In hindsight we should have just ordered the pizza and waited in the car park for it. Anyway, the bar food is grossly overpriced.

We didn't have time to visit the spa or pool but trust it was to a good standard.

Breakfast was very very nice. Lots of litte extra's that made it that bit more special. Just wish they could open breakfast up til 10:30am! More staff would have been nice.

Service was very good and everyone very helpful.

Stayed at this hotel one night at the weekend, and it was absolutely lovely. I would have no hesisitations in booking this hotel.
Yes, it is perhaps slightly dated but no more so than anywhere else. If you don't normally stay at hotels with pools, spas etc then this really is a nice little treat.
The breakfast was perfect..lots of choice and reguarly 'topped' out and always kept hot.
Throughout my stay the staff were very attentive, particuarly the male member of staff that was always around the pol area, he was very helpful indeed.
The rooms were clean, very nice, modern bathrooms. Big soft towels provided for the spa area! It beats any other 'standard' hotel for the price it costs as you do get the added luxury of a pool etc. The gym had 3/4 treadmills and a variety of resistance machines..I was quite impressed!
If you have high demands for an uber-modern spa then you probably would think this hotel is not up to standards but for people who just enjoy a relaxing, good value for money stay this is definately a suitable choice.

This is no way a 4star hotel. When we 1st arrived it looked good until we got to our room which was ment to be an upgrade to deluxe. We went in and their was an extra bed and cot .The room was extremely dirty especially the bath and there was a glass of water sitting which obviously hadnt been cleaned away. We complained and the staff couldnt have cared less they said they would take away the cot and the bed but we didnt accept that and were moved. The second room wasnt as bad although it was still really tatty but clean enough until i opened the fridge which smelt like something had died in it. We were attending a wedding here and had no choice but to stay but given the choice no way would have stayed here. It cost us £210 for 2nights no way worth the money. A deluxe room upgrade only ment you get bathrobes to use and a complementary bottle of water what a joke!! The pool was alright a little on the small side and the steam room and sauna were very small. I got my nails done( file and polish) which cost £16 and they were ok but not great for that type of money. The food was quite good again not great. Drink was resonably priced around £3 for a pint and the bar is open 24hrs but after 1 is charged to your room. Bar staff were friendly but never cleaned up eg dirty ashtrays and glasses left about. The whole hotel needs seriously updated as it is very tatty and the location isnt very good nearest town is £13 in a taxi. When we were leaving we were overcharged £44 and the staff werent happy about refunding it so if you are staying here make sure you check you reciept. Overall very poor hotel would never stay here again even if i was paid to.
