Easy to spend a day at this historic site. Lots to interest young and old alike. Our 4yr old grandson enjoyed clambering throughout HMS Cavalier, spending time in the soft play area and the lifeboat exhibition.

This takes longer to look around than you may think, so you might need to take advantage of the fact that your ticket is valid for as many visits as you please in one year. It is a really interesting place both historically and for the excellent tours of the warships and a submarine. The Submarine was the highlight for me. The buildings are very historic, this place served the Royal Navy for over 500 years, hence what a great contribution the people of the Medway made to the British Empire. You can tell the passion that the local guides have for the dockyard and its history, they are really enthusiastic and engaging. There is also an interesting talk and demonstration on rope making. They actually still make rope here commercially in the longest brick building in Europe. When we were there they also opened one of the world war 2 air shelters and gave a talk, which I don't think they do all of the time. For small children there is a large indoor play area and there are also at least 2 cafes inside the dockyard. A really interesting day which far exceeded my expectations both in terms of what was available to see and do and in addition what I learned.

I received tickets as a present to visit here although living quite locally I always intended to but never seemed to get around to it. I now wish I had got there before. What an interesting and historical place, far too much to see in one day. In my mind there are displays of interest for all ages. The staff I met were very helpful and knowledgeable. My grandchildren love it and have been a number of times, it is very educational, what a place to learn and have fun at the same time. I believe when you pay your entrance fee you can return anytime during the next year for free, check their website to confirm this also times of opening as it is closed for a few months during the winter.
