Good place to come for a quick look for clothing, jewellery, shoes or household items. Good range of eateries, The Range is worth a look for just about everything.

A dying retail outlet wasting nice architecture. Empty shops and the throngs long since moved on. I don't understand how this venue could have withered given its historical setting

This retail outlet has been open for less than ten years and is sadly showing signs of decline. Half the retail letting space is empty and what is occupied is too small for modern size retailers.

The building itself is architecturally wonderful and has its own genuine history ( as part of the dockyard), perhaps this structure should been developed as Dickens World.

What a wasted opportunity

I used to work near Dockside Outlet Centre, and it was a convenient place to walk to at lunch time for a coffee with colleagues.

But there was never much there, the shops were not up to much and it was always pretty lifeless.

Last week I made a return visit, and I'm sorry to say there wasn't any improvement.

The Centre is near the Odeon Cinema, the Dickensworld visitor attraction and several restaurants. It has the potential to be great, but the potential has never been realised.

There were a few more people there than normal as it was the school holidays, but it was still the same old shops that were dull four years ago and are still dull now. Several units were empty, with no sign of any new tenants.

The saving grace for Dockside is the Boomers Café, which is a nice place for coffee and a cake or a panini.
.
I've rated this shopping centre at 2 out of 5. If it wasn't for Boomers and a sense of nostalgia it would have been 1 out of 5.
