Went in for a quick sandwich and they were very efficient and the sandwiches were really good, however went back the following evening for. Meal and it was not good. The chicken was dry,the steak was gritty and fatty and the pizza was awful. They also omitted to tell us the kitchen closed at 9.30 it took so long to be served that the children missed out on their puddings and were very disappointed including some of the adults that they did not get their desserts. The staff came And apologised but we should have had the table cleared long before we actually did , and then we would have ordered afters. Shame.

Typical Hungry Horse, if you want a burger, steak etc then it does it very well.
Family love it, staff are attentive, decor is cosy since the re-fit, food is good value and better than any harvester!
1 moan.....no matter what time of day u go, SO many tables reserved!

While on holiday in Kent we looked online for Hungry Horse restauants as enjoy them while at home and on other trips. Came across Poachers Pocket only 3 miles away and visited Sunday eveing 8pm. On arrival notice on door said Meals finish 8.30pm due to staff training.

Were hurried by the manager to a booth and told to order quick, which we did. The meal arrived and was not up to the quality which we usually get from other Hungry Horse Inns. We were tormented by staff who had a meeting to go to and felt uncomfortble from begining to end. A waitress cleared our table while by 80 year old mother was still eating which I thought was very bad mannered, and we did not dare ask for a pudding and were pleased to leave.

We were on holiday for 2 weeks and would have returned time and time again as we know from experience that the food is good and value for money for 5 adults, but because of our experience we did not.

Running a restaurant myself for the past 20 years I make sure that customer service and satisfaction is guaranteed no matter what day of time of day people visit and I hold my staff training at 9am before we open and this works well.

Visited the poachers pocket after it had been refurbished, it s now part of the hungry horse chain. Very varied menu, pleasant atmosphere. Big plates of food, excellent value for money. Quirky TV's in some booths. Refurb great for families. Parking limited but off site parking available.

Fit for purpose. The Poachers Pocket (hungry horse) serves its target customers very well. Good value Family food. & service. It is now up to the Customers to respect that Families with well behaved children are not subjected to unruly kids running around like it used to be and is at certain other family pubs in the area..
The current manager seems to have got it right. This is not the place for unruly stag & hen parties spoiling other customers evening out.
Food wise Monday & Tuesday ideal for children's value. Beware of the Massive ice creams , even my grandson could not manage it all.
One Complaint though. The Crane vending machine has a habit of dropping the prize at the last minute. My grandson spent £5 trying to win a cuddly toy for his new cousin & ended up in tears. He was not alone. Saw several very disappointed children with no prizes won. Previous machine gave a smaller prize every time.
The pub layout lends itself to a dual layout. Drinking bar & Restaurant divided by walkway in front of the bar.
Would not take family there after about 8.30.PM as the language in the other bar can become a bit loud & offensive as is any other Pub in Medway.
