“Great local with good food!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

Parents use this pub regularly and on a recent visit to Kent stayed at parents and enjoyed a couple of meals at the Poachers. 3 main meals being scampi and chips, steak with jacket and salad and a large curry meal deal with extra sides, a bottle of wine and a pint all came to £24 with a money off voucher. Couldn't complain about any of the food, service or value for money.
Great staff working long hours but still service with a smile every time I've been. Will def be back!

“Very disappointing”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Visited on 31/07/14, was asked to move to a smaller table (there were 4 of us) which we were not happy with as the other table was small and in the middle of an area with people squeezing past. We noticed other parties of 4 were able to sit where they wanted so asked to move back to the original table which they were not happy with but couldn't really justify why not! It was not a table suitable for more than 4 adults!
Food was disappointing, steaks were not cooked as requested and were fatty and chewy.
Dessert was served after a long delay, 4 sundaes - 2 of which were served in the 'knickerbocker glory' style of glass dish as per menu picture and two in smaller sundae dishes?? Caused a lot of amusement and made us laugh even further when we realised that not all of the eton mess desserts had any meringue in them (again as advertised).
It felt that they were unable to deal with a busy evening and there was a lack of customer service from waiting staff, bar staff were much more friendly.
Would not visit again, there are much better Hungry Horse establishments in area.

“discusted !!!”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

my husband and I went for a walk today to my mothers house. while passing the poachers pocket we noticed 2 dogs off lead running across the road so my husband dived in the road to save them. we then proceeded to walk around for an hour to try to find the owner and unfortunately we couldnt so we took them to local vet. My dog in the mean time was so hot a bothered i went in to the pub to buy us a drink and ask for some water for my boy the young lad with blonde hair was so kind and attentive after id told him what had happened. we sat outside by the road no customers near and dog was under table we was enjoying the sun so i went in got another drink for us all. the lad behind the bar came out and told me that we wasnt welcome because the "duty" manager had told him to tell us and they could be shut down. What a load of rubbish. Im a catering manager myself and used to eat here every week well no more always the same give someone a bit of authority when the boss is away and it goes to there head what happened to human compassion. I am discusted by the experience but would however like to thank the lad behind the bar who is a credit and maybe "MR MANAGER" should do his own dirty work in future

“not worth the visit”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

spent a lot of money drinking and eating here, staff behind bar were rude and confrontational, ordered food, was waiting a long time and when it did was definatly not worth the wait, rubbery chicken bits missing fro other orders, no one came and removed the ever growing amount of empty glasses left on table and took ages to clear our food away, although reasonably priced, was still more than I would have paid for the lousy service, will definatly not be recommending this place to anyone else and would not return either.. sat in garden for while though this was difficult as the chairs are chained to the tables lol
