I stayed one night only in Dover, and found the room to be adequate for the night. It was clean enough, the floor could have probably been vacuumed a little bit better though. Tea making facilities were good. Toiletries.. well, wall soap and a couple of blocks of soap, so if you want more toiletries bring your own. It was all in all a little tired looking, but as it felt like I was in a grandparents house it was cosy, and comfortable. I meant to tell the owner that the shower had a bit of a drainage problem, but didn't see him on checking out.
I went downstairs for dinner and found the food quite hearty and tasty, the cellar bar was really quaint and I had a really good night talking with the locals and the owner, a real locals pub which I loved.
The room wasn't too badly priced. I had a room overlooking the beer garden, (room 3), so it was off the street which was quiet enough, the only noise notable was the water heater in the bedroom area, which would start up every now and again, but managed a good night sleep.
The location was great, but Dover town isn't all that large so walking distance to most things is easy enough.

Just had a fabulous meal, really tasty, plenty of it, cooked to perfection. Outstanding! Room is tidy, clean and well presented with lovely on suite. So far, so good. Give Blakes restaurant a visit, you pay for what you get.

Room Tip: Request lower floor if you struggle with stairs. No ground floor as I've noticed.

Very helpful and friendly staff. The room was small but comfortable. Nice bathroom. Had a jug and tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits and hot chocolate. The restaurant served delicious food, and the pub downstairs had a lovely atmosphere and a good selection of local beer. The hot water system noise was a bit loud.

Weekend stay to visit Dover Castle.
Room comfortable and nice well stocked tea/coffee/hot choc tray.
Had a few drinks in the cellar bar which has a good selection of real ales. We got talking to a couple of regulars and had a nice evening.Would stay again.

Stayed at the Blakes of Dover overnight on my way back from Europe. The room was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and very welcoming. The menu gives a very good choice of things to eat and the food we had for dinner was beautifully cooked.
I would totally recommend

What a fantastic location....close to the town and the ferries with parking outside, how ideal!! Or at least we thought...we decided to have breakfast on the final morning and were greeted less the favourably by the owner (we assumed) and he was nothing short of rude as we hadn't booked!!! Some passers by tried to stop for food too and they were dispatched by him...very rudely!!
Shame.....great location, clean and simple accommodation let down by an obnoxious proprietor!

We picked Blakes for the price and location. Sadly, we did not get a decent sleep when we stayed there. The boiler in our room was so noisy that every time someone uses the loo, there was a piercing noise filling our room. The bed was so bad that my husband and I were forced to roll right in the middle of the bed (romantic...right). So, you can imagine how annoying it was at 5am with the boiler going off, waking up a couple of hours later with a sore back and not enough sleep. Complementary tea/coffee was a nice touch, only that the heating coil in the water jug was all rusty. There was scaffolding covering our view of...nothing really. So, we shouldn't have minded scaffolding as our scenery. I don't understand what kind of B&B wouldn't ensure that their guests have a decent night's rest by testing that the facilities were up to scratch (noisy boiler, crap bed, rusty water jug). The staff are quite friendly, yes, but you can hardly stand upright in the basement pub.
