On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a lovely receptionist (Annie i think) who was friendly sorted out breakfasts and our room and everything no problem. The actual room, (Room 114) Was on the first floor it was clean, and had a lovely balcony (which if it had been abit warmer we might have used it more), one problem was found though after sleeping in the bed for the first night, where the bed was able to turn into a twin or be pushed into a double, someone had forgotten to do the zip in the middle of the bed up and just made the bed, which led to well sinking and falling in the night lets say. But that is no "biggy". Also the room didn't exactly seem very "superior" more like a standard with a good view. So for the price it was a a little disappointing. When visiting reception 2 more times over the stay. The other 2 members of staff who i spoke to didn't seem to know what they were doing. When asked a question they had to go check with a colleague all the answers, and even after it was like chinese whispers, slightly altered when it got to us. Also room service was a tad pricey as well. Other than that, it was a good stay and we may visit again.

The hotel is a nice, traditional, old style property. Rooms are cosy and well decorated. The top floor rooms have smaller windows which don't fully open (be sure to bring allen key along!). If you are a Rewards Member and expect to be recognised - DON'T! The reception staff won't care to add the number to the booking in spite of being repeatedly asked to do so. Securing an extra hour before check-out requires a real effort. The breakfast is really good though!

Room Tip: For sea view, avoid the top floor - windows are quite small and don't fully open.

Upon arrival the welcome wasn't very friendly.
Then there is only 1 very small lift and all guests (myself included) seemed to be on 4th floor. So I was stood there for ages waiting for lift and had to squeeze in with 2 other people in the end.

The car park is across the road so I was soaked by the time I got to the hotel (and then had to go back out in it to put a 'free car parking' sticker inside.) If you go, don't follow signs for the car park like I did, instead you can park on the road out of the front of the building.
Then my room had a annoying alarm sounding for the first hour. The room faced the town even though I booked sea view and the room was baking hot with no air con. I couldn't sleep due to the heat.

The food in the restaurant sounded amazing, but when it arrived it wasn't the best. The scallops were tiny and tough (one was even burnt.) The seafood tagliatelle was bland and had tiny pieces of shell in it. The food wasn't cheap either and the service wasn't the best.

Breakfast was better, I opted for porridge which was nice and the coffee was lovely. But to be honest that's the only positive I have.

I stayed at the Premier Inn in Dover before and based on this experience next time I would stay there instead!

Our family of 6 spent 1 night here before our cruise to the Baltic. The room for my husband and myself was small, terribly hot,in the back and the windows would not open and of course no air conditioning. Our son's family room for 4 was just beautiful, very large with a fantastic view of the sea. They were able to open their windows so got a nice sea breeze at night. We ate dinner there and the food was terrible. I even paid extra 5 bp for 2 upgraded meals and the steaks were so tough you couldn't cut them. I complained about the 5 bp extra charge and the girl at the desk promised to take off the charge from our bill but never did. We had booked this hotel with a large Cruise Critic group and I guarantee I will never stay there again. The place has great curb appeal but what a disaster inside.

Room Tip: If the weather is warm do not book here as there is no air conditioning and the windows will not ope...

just spent a week here with my girlfriend visiting friends..she us to live here ..and always wanted to stay in this hotel ..we have had drinks here outside before a few times when been down dover visiting.so i treated her thinking it would be a special romantic stay...well i must say im very disappointed ,, it started at the desk was told breakfast was £10 or £12 extra i thought are you kidding ive just paid £500 !! went the room,, as soon as we walked in i couldnt believe the size of it ,a double bed jammed in the corner beside the 3ft seaview ,,[porthole]..1 small wardrobe..1 small desk a couple of chairs ..my girfriends stuff would fill the wardrobe so i had nowhere to put my things !
i wanted to walk out there&then ..but didnt say so to her but i could see she wasnt very happy.
we got spruced up and went for a drink at the bar ,,the staff were ok but slow serving ,,had a few drinks then went back to room as we were tired from driving down.
tried to sleep but the noise of other guests banging doors kept me awake.
.this went on all week ! plus a party of lads the floor above sounded like they were wrecking the room.. all in all this hotel was a major disappointment i will never stay here again ,,

Room Tip: unless you are midgets forget it.

Like one the other reviewers we stayed on a 2 night break including ferry crossing. We upgraded for £15 to take the car over. There was enough time to get to Ypres and visit Hill 62 to see the trenches and war graves then a quick stop off at Dunkirk before the ferry crossing back. Unfortunately the weather was not at its best and we had a small delay. We are in the restaurant on the ferry which was very good and distracted us from the choppy seas. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient at all times. Dinner and afternoon tea on the 1st day was included and we were impressed by both. Only downside was that the rooms were a little too warm, it was November and the heating was off so no idea why this was. But thanks go to the staff at the Dover Marina you are doing a really good job.
