Stayed here a couple of years ago and the hotel is still as good then as it is now.

The hotel is right on the front and there are views over the sea from the restaurant and the bar.

All the staff were very helpful, especially in the restaurant.

The rooms we had were quite small, but very clean. The floors are a bit uneven, but this is because it is an old building. If you had a problem with this they were prepared to move you.

We had an evening meal on the first night which was nice. The breakfast is full English and you help yourself, which was excellent.

We never used the gym or the spa so I can't comment on these.

The only downside is Dover itself, which is not a very nice place to spend any time. We only went there to take advantage of a deal, which was £84.50 for a 2 night stay, evening meal one nigh, breakfast both days and afternoon tea on 1 afternoon and a day trip to Calais. The ferry port is only a 15 minute walk away. This was exceptional value. The day trip to Calais isn't something I would do again. As you leave the port there are camps of immigrants and we found it quite intimidating. The town itself is nothing like I remembered it from years ago, we couldn't even find a nice café to have a pastry and a coffee.

Having said all that we would go back to the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have a sea view.

We used this hotel as a base prior to a very early journey across to France on 21st. December. We had high expectations having read previous reviews. These were not met.
We accept that it was a busy Xmas evening, however, service was not good. The restaurant and bar were very busy so we opted for room service and have a light snack as we had an early start. This was over an hour late to arrive. No horseradish in the Roast Beef and horseradish sandwich and very little or no crab in the crabcakes...........say no more.
I'm sure the clients in the Restaurant were very well looked after but we weren't and we were paying for a room. I like to point out positives where possible - the room was lovely;modern, bright and clean. The staff were very polite (and apologetic for the rubbish room service) On the whole though, would choose somewhere else for our next pre channel crossing stop over.

Room Tip: £10 upgrade will confirm a sea view

Visited best western as a couple for 3 nights. Room was nice, spacious and well decorated. Bathroom clean and bright. But the service was in existent. Nobody greeted us, poor service at breakfast - nobody checked back on us, even though it was not busy and 4 staff members were working on the floor. On the first morning, we asked for 2 fried eggs and 2 poached eggs which never arrived ! On the second day, we requested the same and when it arrived the poached eggs were hard. Lots of choices for the continental option though, which is appreciable. Price is still a little too high according to us - £13 per person for a full English breakfast. The very good point of this hotel is the location - the sea is right across the road and the town centre is only 5-10 minutes walk. We stayed at another best western in London where we had a better experience. When we checked out, the receptionist didn't even ask about the stay and gave us a wrong (and more expensive than it really was) bill. We have stayed at many different hotels, including budget ones such as premier inn and we had a better experience there with excellent customer service - maybe 4* hotels should take exemple on them - especially for the service they provide.

Recently stayed at this hotel for Christmas. Must say what a great time we all had. We were a party of 19 raging from 13 to 74 in age. The hotel looks great , is clean ,the food was really good and the staff were so nice and helpful. Will definitely go again. Special mention to Ashley the bar manager and also Carla the waitress and also the waiter who both worked so hard and with a genuine smile on their faces. Nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly be back!!

Room Tip: They all looked great
