The accommodation was clean and very comfortable; the decorations were very tasteful and elegant. In addition they also had breakfast included! A lot better value than a chain hotel, at the same or lower price...

We made a mistake on the website with dates and were staying for two days here, we arrived at the property two full days early, the host said she had one room to fit us in for that night, but said we had to pay for the other two nights booked two days later, when I read the cancellation policy should have only been charged a 30 pound I believe, regardless we only stayed one night and it cost us the other two nights, not a great start to our B&B experience. The bedroom was three floors up and quite ordinary, breakfast was good though, the host said she would see if she could help us find another property to stay in but didn't come back to us at all with any assistance. I would. It recommend the property at all.

Stayed overnight before catching daytime ferry. The house was a splendidly appointed Victorian residence. Our room 5 on floor 1 was at the rear. It was spotless. There was a little noise from the railway and a problem with air in the pipes( which will have been attended to now) We had an excellent breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Anita, the host, was very helpful and directed us to The Royal Oak, about 15 mins walk, for evening meal, which was very good. Ample parking at the residence about 5 mins from Eastern Docks. Would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the rear.

Stopped here just for 1 night, rooms were on the 3rd floor so a bit of an effort bringing our luggage in, it had been quite warm so the rooms were hot even with the windows open. The owner was quite obliging and gave us some wine glasses so we could go and see the cliffs and have some drinks & nibbles.
As the rooms were so warm, it would have been nice to have some fans as the windows had to be closed at night to cut out the street noise & this would have made sleeping easier.
Breakfast was adequate & set us up for the day

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Good size room and a lovely breakfast. Well located for an overnight stay before catching the ferry. Also recommend the royal oak pub in River located within walking distance for a good steak

The hostess was very welcoming and initial impressions were good, however, found we were on 2nd floor, so long trek up 2 flights of stairs with heavy holiday luggage. Although the room was large, a triple, which we hadn't actually booked, it was rather dull looking being a black décor with dark wood furniture, hit and miss painting and lots of cobwebs. Comfortable bed, but pokey shower room in need of a refit as areas of damp and not very clean. Milk provided with tea tray was full fat - would be nicer to have choice. Breakfast selection was adequate, and cooked breakfast fiancé had was good, albeit a little miserly, but good coffee and tea. Overall a bit pricey for the offering, felt rather disappointed having read many positive and glowing reviews.
