Superb welcome and breakfast and advice. Rooms are good and the whole hotel has wonderful character and charm. It's a reverse travelodge. We used it for the ferry and it is impossible to get closer. Daytime parking may be tricky there are no restrictions between 17:30 and 10:00

We were well received by the delightful owners and looked after during our two day stay.
The enormous room was comfortable and quiet.
We slept well and enjoyed our breakfasts. We ate at one excellent and another good restaurant nearby. We also visited the castle-a must!
We wholeheartedly recommend a stay here, especially if you are off to Europe.

Room Tip: We were happy with our non en-suite room at the back of the building. Check your location.

We stayed here for two nights after driving to England by car, using the Eurotunnel to cross the channel (I lived in Munich at that time) and one more night before crossing the channel again on our way home.

This place and its owner are just so lovely and cute! Besides having a great full english breakfast everyday, we also enjoyed the interior of the hotel with its beautiful antique furniture. If necessary, you can spend a rainy evening in the living room and have a relaxing time reading a book or just enjoying the room itself.

Robert, our host, had valuable hints and recommendations to every of our questions. And a very entertaining dose of british humour. :-)

Our next trip to England will absolutely start and end here again.

Robert welcomed us when we arrived at about 4.30pm. As we were the only guests that night he gave us a choice of which room we wished to have (although we had only booked and paid for the cheapest room at the back of the hotel). My wife chose a lovely en-suite twin room overlooking the front and the harbour. It had excellent double glazing which prevented disturbance from the traffic coming and going to the nearby ferry port.

We only had overnight bags with us so the fact that there is not a lift was no problem - in any case Robert carried the heavier of the bags upstairs for us. He recommended a couple of very nice pubs on the front for an evening meal (we had not booked one at Loddington House) and as a result we had a very good (and reasonably priced) meal that evening. He also made suggestions as to where it would be nice to visit the next day before boarding our cruise in the afternoon.

Although the main entrance to the hotel is at the back of the building there is a good private car park at the front - which took care of the problem faced at some hotels and guest houses.

After a good and comfortable night we had an excellent full English breakfast in the dining room - which also overlooks the front and the harbour.

We were met with a great welcome. Lovely room, with sea view. No elevator so had to walk up 3 flights, but Robert the Manager/Owner looked after our bags etc. Great sitting room and Library to relax in. Breakfast was served in an ocean view room and was very tastefully set, and all we wanted, only had to ask. The hotel was nestled under one of the White Cliffs, with the Castle on top so very dramatic. A little far to walk to restaurants, but we managed well. Opposite the Ferry to Calais, so fun to watch, and good for staying if you were needing this facility.
Parking in front of hotel, seemed v ery adequate although we did not require it. Robert was extremely hospitable and full of information for us as new visitors to Dover from Canada.
Fully recommended for cleanliness, hospitality and comfort.

Room Tip: We had a front seaview room facing the Ferry and did not find it too noisy, but certainly rooms at t...

Robert was an excellent host. A tip if you have a lot of luggage, is to pack a smaller one for the night. There are stairs, and it would be hard to carry much luggage up. Our room was on the second floor, it backed up to the Cliffs of Dover, and faced the Channel. Very large room with a fireplace, very comfortable. There was a very large sitting room that was airy and very clean. The breakfast was delicious, my husband had the full Breakfast, and I had fruit with yogart and granola. Very reasonably priced, close to the downtown area. We enjoy our visit.

The setting is fantastic. The inn is right below the white cliffs and our room (the “Cream” room) faced right out onto Dover harbor.

The view was amazing though there is noise from the road, which could be an issue for light sleepers (there are rooms facing the cliffs in back of the house which are doubtless much quieter).

There was an “air conditioning-like object” in the room, but it had little impact on the temperature in our rather large room, so we needed to keep the windows open wide most of the time. If the temperature were over 80ºF/27ºC it would be uncomfortable.

Loddington is within easy walking distance to Dover restaurants.

Our host was very charming and helpful. Breakfast was very good.

Be aware, the rooms are on 3rd floor. And, Loddington being a very old house, the floors (and flights of stairs) are tall, so I would avoid any serious luggage.

There was parking for 2 cars right in front which was unexpected and appreciated.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, I would ask for a room at the rear where there is less traffic noise.
