Stopped here on the way and back to Euro Disney, Margaret made us feel so welcome and took a shine to our grandkids as they did the same to her lovely little walled garden for them to play in, breakfast served in rooms made it feel special, made use of the secure garage parking they offer as it gives peace of mind and would definitely return

Very nice B&B, pleasant owner.
The house is charming, both inside and out, Listed building.
Breakfast was nice - no porridge but tradition English breakfast and some good vegetarian options.

We stayed for one night after returning from the continent.
Very nice overall.

One caveat - Some reviews mention a damp or cold room.
They are referring to room number 5. Owner acknowledged that this room is in the back, lower level and doesn't get much sun. Consequently it is considerably colder than the other rooms, and the cold can feel like damp. It also has 3 beds (a double and 2 twins), which is kind of weird, and made it feel cramped.

To do it again I would have asked for a different room, but they were all booked up.
If you do get room 5, and if it is cold, don't hesitate to ask Margaret to turn on the central heating, even if it is summer time. She won't mind and you'll sleep much better.

After touring the UK for 3 months, I can honestly say that we have voted this as being the best B&B that we stayed in. (And we stayed in quite a few) We stayed for 3 nights. It was clean and comfortable and had the most wonderful olde worldy charm about it. I loved the gorgeous breakfast area of our room with the bay window and magnificaent garden view. Margaret was a fantastic host and was accommodating in every way. There was nothing lacking at this B&B. The rates, location, guidance and presentation of the guest house made for an extremely wonderful stay. Beautiful gardens and private entrance. Look no further if you would like to stay in Dover. this is the must stay place. Thank you Margaret and John

Excellent service, a truly lovely garden, own entrance, comfortable bed... what more could we ask for? We spent a single night in Dover to explore the town, the cliffs and the castle and this was a perfect spot which ticked all our boxes.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Margaret and John are the most welcoming couple ever. Our stay (along with another couple) was for only one night on 3 May prior to going over on the ferry. We first stayed there 20 years ago when John's mother was running it. I was so pleased that this delightful B&B had not changed. Everything is provided - much the same as a 4 star hotel. This is a perfect place to stay in Dover and gets away from the 'samey' franchise hotels in the area. Plenty of parking and near to the city centre, this is just a wonderful place to stay. Cannot wait for a return trip.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

John and Margaret have one of the best B/Bs in Dover.Over the years I have stayed in several guest houses in the Dover area,as I travel to France on a regular basis.I have stayed in the garden room on two occasions the second time was by my request as it ticks all the boxes. Most comfortable bed tv tea and coffee facilities plus a hair drier that works that will ring a bell to the regular traveller Most important of all the room is clean and well displayed. If you want peace and quiet this is the room to be in. Just the job for the early riser. Comments have been maid that the shower is on the small side yes it is smaller than the one I have at home, but I am five foot eight and sixteen stone most certainly not a size ten and i have no problem with it. A great bonus is the garage, for three pounds you get peace of mind that your car and contents are safe. All in all a good place to stay. Will return June July on my next trip. rob b

We have been staying overnight here, usually on our way to catch a morning ferry, for many years. Over that time we have never found any of the facilities lacking, and the owner Mrs.Reidy has always been friendly and most helpful to us whatever our needs. On occasions this has included staying open for us until well after 11pm so that we could stop overnight after some very wearying Channel Tunnel delays, and also her daughter helping to feed our hungry toddler after again arriving late after motorway delays.

With a car full of holiday luggage, the locked garage overnight (easily accessible from the garden) is well worth the small charge for security and peace of mind.

The breakfast is always freshly cooked and just the right amount - served in the room exactly when requested, so we can save time by eating it while getting ready. A packed breakfast is available the night before if the ferry is too early, so whatever our travel plans we will always have a good start to the day.

I don't know what the negative commenters were expecting from their stay, but we know that we would prefer to stay somewhere traditional with personal service - if you prefer concrete walls and thin mattresses then they are available just down the road. We have never personally experienced any damp rooms or musty sheets - we know that all of the rooms were redecorated and new heating installed a few years ago. I am 6 feet tall and have never found the bathrooms or showers too small.

Room Tip: "Family room" (1 double and 2 single beds, plus 2 washbasins) great for families. That an...
