“not a great stay”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

we were booked on a early dover ferry s booked this hotel a few miles down the road. rooms were compact and very dated . we had a side room which was to say dingy the bathroom small and outlook from the room poor the dining room was out dated and lacked any sense of refinement ['70s style]
the plus side receptionist was absolutely fantastic . thanks be that one night was too much at this alleged hotel

Room Tip: avoid this place

Wow - right on the marina front and we had a good side view of all of the boats - really pretty. Check in was great - very friendly and room was spacious again. Parking was across the way in a multi storey was cheap and fine really. Straight out the hotel door and into town. A nice gem for sure.

Right on the front, with views over the marina an ideal location. Clean and functional rooms with a very comfy bed, shower could be better, I am 6'4" and was not able to adjust at all, however this is a minor issue. Great staff, and excellent value breakfast at £6. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Just one very small gripe, is if you have a harbour view room at the weekend the adjacent Mariners Bar has live music until 11.30/MDT which is quite loud so you will have to shut the window, if you are a light sleeper this might be an issue. You could however put your dancing shoes on and enjoy the music, the band on the other night played some excellent covers.
Another winner Travelodge.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter at the weekend.

Great location, caring and attentive staff (especially Kim), good breakfast, really comfy bed, clean rooms with really friendly housekeeping staff

It just works.

The only (minor) gripes are that the bath is nearing replacement time and they could do with a few more TV channels

Room Tip: Phone ahead, once booked, for a sea view

The Travelodge at Ramsgate is in a prominent seafront position. Unluckily for us, our room was at the back of the hotel and had only a tiny view of rooftops. We chose the hotel because of its seafront position and it was great to be able to walk out and be right in the heart of the resort but my room tip, is to insist on a sea view. The hotel was clearly understaffed, and this was particularly noticeable at breakfast as one poor member of staff was running around desperately trying to keep up with a busy breakfast service all on her own until 9.30am when other staff arrived. Despite clearly being over worked, the staff were exceptionally friendly, smiley and helpful. Breakfast was a basic self-service affair served in a contemporary but souless room which reminded me of a staff canteen. Overall you can't beat this hotel for its location, but everything else about our stay was far superior in the similarly priced Premier Inn situated about a 10 minute drive away near Manston Airport.

Thank you for your feedback Sarjj. We hope all our guests receive a high level of service at our hotels so it is regrettable to learn that you did not feel that you received this high level of service at our bar café. Thank you for staying with us and we assure you that all customer feedback is provided to the hotel directly which helps improve the service they offer.
