Visited this cafe for the first time yesterday afternoon, attracted by the fantastic views over the harbour. Weather was very 'come-and-go' with the odd grey cloud looming, and the owner immediately put up a huge parasol for us. We got the impression that a lot of the other customers were regulars, (he took a pot of tea and a cake out onto the walkway for an elderly lady he exchanged 'Good Mornings' with and who would have had problems with the steps), yet we never felt left out and our service was every bit as warm. Baguettes were achingly fresh and delicious fillings (plus an unusually decent-sized salad garnish) and the slice of cheesecake we shared (not much room left!) was to die for. You can take your own beer or wine (it's unlicensed), so could make this an economical but special lunch. Only thing that could make it even more perfect would be a side portion of chips (!) and early evening opening (they shut about 5/5.30) but I quite understand why the owner would want this little gem to himself for a while! Highly recommended.
