Reviewed 21 June 2012

My parther and I stayed overnight in June. Our room was a double and had a balcony and a sea view. We both rated the hotel very highly.

The staff are pleasant and friendly. The interior is full of character and rather charming with three downstairs rooms available to visitors to relax in which almost make you feel like you are in your own living room. Sea views are unobstructed although there is a road right outside so some road noise is a possibility although it didn't distrub us. Location wise, it is somewhat hit-and-miss if you need to park your own vehicle due to some local parking restrictions (double-yellows) but we were able to find a space not far from the hotel and it is easy to find being on the sea front and close to the harbour & Ramsgate local shopping.

Our room was a "double" but was really a very small room with a double bed and a tiny shower/toilet room (no bath). However, it was perfectly adequate for an overnight stay being immaculately clean, comfortable and again full of character which seems to be the general theme of the hotel. The room had a nice modern television, tea and coffee making facilites (with loads of supplies) and free internet. The room rate included breakfast which was quite generous as one could have cereal, toast and a full english all in one sitting. In addition, the hotel offers a complimentary cheese and biscuits table in the evening.

Although fairly pricy, we both felt it was worth the extra expense over chain hotel as the decor and ambience made us both feel good about staying there. I recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't on a very strict budget.

Rated as 4 stars out of 5 overall due to the small room size and higher-than-average prices.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room with balcony

Stayed in this hotel in April when the weather was totally foul but still loved every minute of it. Beautiful Georgian building making you feel very special. The staff were incredible and so was the breakfast - which was fit for a king! We have booked to go back again in June taking more family with us so they can fall in love with it too!

We stayed for our wedding night and couldn't have wished for a more perfect end to our day. Richard was a star for staying up late to let us and our guests in. When we got to the room, Gill had made it look absolutely stunning. The bed was big and comfy, the bathroom well equipped and the view amazing. David was the perfect host when we came down to breakfast. Our friends were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was fantastic; just what we all needed after the night before.
We highly recommend the Royal Harbour Hotel and look forward to staying again soon.

Room Tip: Room 4; stunning views, balcony and huge bed.

We stayed here for a few nights over Easter.
The room had a wonderful view and it was very clean and tidy.
There is no lift and the stairs are steep to climb, quite hardword when you are tired!
Breakfast was lovely and the service was brilliant!
A nice little find.

This was our tenth visit to The Royal Harbour. It's like spending time with a good friend - welcoming, warm, comfortable and interesting. Chain hotels are fine but give me the books, the stack of vinyl (and turntable), and the open fire at the Harbour any day. Lovely cooked breakfast, too. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

This Hotel is wonderful! We stayed in room 4 (the suite) what a lovely room, the room was big, the shower was big (my husband is 6 foot 5 inches and for the first time was able to stand properly under a shower) the bed was huge and the view from the balcony was wonderful, and on top of all this there is an open fire in the room that you can request to be lit. The breakfasts are tasty with lots of choice in variety and quantity (hence our expanded waist line) The lounge is homely , comfortable and with an open fire and candles lit in the evening is cosy. Everyone working here are friendly and helpful ready to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Room Tip: balcony rooms for a wonderful view

This B&B has Maxwell 'Cashmere' China and Down Duvets. There is a portrait of The Queen and copies of the Daily Mail. People use the lounge because many of the rooms are tiny and the corridors are cold. It's for 'People Like Us'. Others may find the lack of car parking, the poor bathrooms, the lack of linen change and the very self service breakfast (assemble your own drinks) surprising at this price level. Most seem to love it, for others the Seafront Travel Lodge is better value and almost as well located. Loves Dogs!
