Our room was not the best location, overlooking car park and disabled facilities but the rest of the hotel was great, lovely quirky hotel, brilliant friendly staff, chocolates on the pillow at night, beautiful herb garden to sit in the evening, cheese and biscuit every evening and the best ever breakfast. No hotel i've visited has ever provided a better breakfast, choice and quality. I will certainly be back. Tip. ask for sea view!

Room Tip: Ask for sea view try and miss overlooking the car park as people are leaving for ferries etc at all...

We have just returned from 3 days at the Royal Harbour Hotel. What a gem of a hotel it is. Very welcoming reception from David. We stayed on the 4th floor (a bit of a struggle if not reasonably fit, no lifts in this grade 2 property) with a lovely view of the harbour. The room is certainly adequate for a short stay. Very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are excellent, the choice in a small hotel is outstanding, the tray of honey was amazing!
But what really sets this hotel apart is the wonderful homely feel and little touches. The deep chairs and sofas, the many bookcases all around the hotel, the record player and 100's of LP's to play (although some very strange titles). The help yourself honesty bar, cheese and biscuits every night. And the chocolate buttons!
i believe some rooms may be fairly small, so be careful and you will not be disappointed with this wonderful place.
We'll be back to try the log fires out in the winter months.

We stayed here for a long weekend, being one of very few hotels that would allow us to bring our dog. The staff (David and his brother) made us feel very welcome, were friendly and helpful and worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The hotel is lovely; like being invited into someone's home, with loads of books everywhere, interesting original paintings and posters, and a lovely courtyard garden full of plants.
The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast varied, extensive and delicious and the location was ideal.
We would recommend the hotel and would like to come back in the winter to enjoy the log fires.

Room Tip: rooms at the front have wonderful view over the harbour but tend to be smaller that rooms at the bac...

We stayed here for three nights and only wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were so friendly and made us feel right at home. The breakfast was delicious. We had a wonderful view of the sea in our very nice room. The steps to our room were a little hard on the knees but it was well worth it. Location of hotel was perfect for us as we love to walk and and enjoyed it very much. If we are lucky enough to go there again we would certainly stay here. Loved it!

We spent two nights in this delightful and unique hotel. It benefits from a great location with views across the harbour, and easy access to all nearby facilities. The staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was on the small side but was beautifully decorated and appointed, and very comfortable. Breakfast was varied, fresh, extensive and well presented. There was even a space to park the car at the rear, which is unusual for a small sea front hotel. Highly recommended if you appreciate a change from chain type hotels.

Second time my wife and I stayed at this hotel and will definately return again.
The room we had was on the back overlooking the lush courtyard garden, this room was larger than the seafront room we had last time. The beds are so comfy with feather pillows and clean.
The breakfast is fresh cooked to order and there is also a wide choice of cereals, fruit, juices, honey comb ,cakes smoked salmon, cold meats cheeses etc and free newspapers. The free cheese board after 9pm is a nice touch which my wife and I enjoyed with a nice glass of wine from the honesty bar. Love the snug room at the back comfy settee flat screen tv computer loads of books and double doors which led onto the beautiful courtyard garden . Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and it is like you are in a time warp with the gramophone records old fashioned radios and many historic paintings it is certainly not a typical bland modern hotel, it makes the place feel warm and comforting and I imagine the log fires in winter add to that feeling.
The only minus point is the stairs we were on the 3rd floor and there is a 4th floor but there is no lift so this may present a problem to less mobile guests.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back although they do not have a seaview are larger. Request low floor if you have dif...

Friendly and professional welcome. Room tastefully decorated with a seaside theme, four poster bed, lovely little balcony with a view of the harbour. Chocolates on the pillow and good choice of tea and coffees in room. Very clean. Complimentary cheese board in the evening. Amazing choice of old vinyl records to play in the lounge. Excellent cooked breakfast with plenty of continental style options. Ideally located for the town with restaurants even closer. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: It's worth paying the extra for a sea view
