Lovely touches such as cheese and biscuits late at night, quirky art, linen table cloths and napkins, fantastic breakfasts. Amazing views out to sea and close to the centre of town and the beach. Great pub around the corner called the Queen Charlotte too. Highly recommended.

We stayed in August 2014 the hotel is charming, and the breakfasts are very good. The harbour and sea views are fantastic. The Empire Restaurant in the basement is excellent and reasonably priced. Now the downside - we managed to get a off road parking (£5 pound a day extra) but this only holds 4 vehicles, the street parking is a bit tight and you are lucky if you get a space. We had room 15, with a balcony and sea view which to say the least 'compact and bijou' !! it had the smallest bathroom in the world, there was on the door stating this !! it was also annoying that something's were not replaced when exhausted, for example breakfast tea bags, shampoo / shower gel and toilet paper. There were some nice touches though including a menu for the restaurant and forecast for the following day, the lounge had a 'honesty bar' and a record player with hundreds of LPs play, and the free cheese and biscuits after 10pm is perfect. There are several restaurants just 100 yards down the road including an Italian, French, Thai and Indian. We had a Indian and it was really good. The staff we all very helpful and extremely polite so overall a lovely 4 day break, and would stay
again....................even in room 15!!

Room Tip: Watch out for room 15 !!! - A tad small Do not take any notice of the Hotel Ratings with regards se...

Mainly good things to say about this quirky little place which is really a modern day B and B rather than an hotel.
Very comfy beds but small rooms and en suites (although to be fair it does say that on their web site). Location was excellent with lots of good restaurants (variety of cuisine and prices) within easy walking distance.
Parking is pretty difficult but we managed to find a space each day with little problem. Yes there are lots of stairs but there is a special ambiance to this place which is all part of the experience.
Staff here are superb, particularly Hannah. Unpretentious and very helpful, nothing too much trouble. The breakfast, as all the reviews say, were really excellent. Lots of choice, very good quality fare and all delicious. The breakfast room does get a bit busy and you may have to wait in the lounge but not for long---just relax!
Honesty bar is a nice touch and pretty good organisation for such a small place. The price is slightly steep for the room size. However you pay your money and take your choice---I'd stay again for the location and the breakfast!

Room Tip: Stairs to most rooms. Suites are bigger. Beds are very comfy even if the rooms are small. Rooms at t...

I came down for the weekend to visit my Granddaughter who is studying nearby.
The single room was bright & fresh the view was breathtaking. Staff very helpful taking my case up & down as i was on the 3rd floor & i use a stick. Breakfast choice very good.
The whole atmosphere is welcoming & tastefully furnished. Would certainly come again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a sea & harbour view - brilliant i could sit & look out all day

The decor is very fashionable but the rooms are small. There wasn't a cupboard to keep our things in or space for towels in the bathroom. It's as if nice finishing touches are used to cover a lack of basic necessities. Late check in and early check out. Breakfast is crowded and service not perfect and somehow hurried. Not sure I'd like to go again.

Our room was excellent with a modern 4 poster bed. The staff were delightful and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location, has a good character and good plumbing. The Empire Restaurant was a real find.
