“Quiet room, excellent service, outstanding breakfast”

The exceptional service at this hotel, indicated by other reviewers, is really true. I asked at the desk "When is your checkout time?" and, for the first time at any hotel, I got the response "When do you want to leave?" The English breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. I chose a back room, preferring quiet to a harbour view, and the room was indeed quiet. Free wi-fi was included. The location was excellent. There was a Waitrose supermarket within a few minutes walk and the high street was just a few minutes further. The only thing I didn't like was the surcharge they added for paying with American Express.

A quaint inn located above the harbour. Was accompanying my partner while he worked for 2 weeks on the Thames. Helpful staff. Rooms were fine, what you would expect for an inn. I wish I had had a room with a view. They looked lovely with a small balcony and chairs. If I found myself in Ramsgate again, I'd stay in here and request one of those rooms.
The couple who does the cooking and general housekeeping, were kind despite not knowing much English. And the lady works crazy hours- so we tipped her generously :)
Cooked breakfasts in the morning were good, and made most requests! (yummy eggy-bread/french toast).
A quick walk to restaurants and bars.

My wife and I just returned from a 35 day trip to Britain. We stayed in 21 different B&Bs or hotels along the way. Of these I can only recommend 7 in all. A sad statistic considering the price range we were in 65-165 Pounds/ night.
The Royal Harbour House stands out as a fine example of how a B&B should and can be run and presented. I can not share the criticisms of other writers before me in faulting the hotel or it's management. The hotel is in a fine location, with street-side parking available out front, overlooking the harbour of Ramsgate.
Staff was friendly and efficient, the room was cosy but well appointed and clean. The beds were very comfortable and new ( which is not a given in Britain).
Breakfasts were very good and with a nice range of choices for every taste.
A special extra touch was provided by an open fire in the cozy sitting room and the complimentary cheese/cracker platter served in the later evening.
While some guests may have difficulty with the narrow and somewhat steep stairs, we found this not to be any problem whatsoever. But one should be aware of this and book a room accordingly.
I am not surprised that Lonely Planet Britain( 2009) gives this hotel their "Our Pick" designation. I could not agree more with their recommendation and will be writing them to provide them with an up date confirmation.

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my Partner & Daughter.

The room was really comfortable (No 19) with a great seaview – couldn’t decide whether the view was better at night or in the daylight – either way it was very impressive. My 3 year old daughter was so excited with the “princess” pull out bed that they provided for her, so much so that she wants one for Christmas!!

My favourite part of our overnight stay was discovering a delicious selection of cheeses that had been set out in the dinning room that evening, what better way to end the day!

They have an honesty bar which was a really nice touch; although we didn’t take advantage of the offer it is nice to know that there are still some hotels that trust guests enough to lay out a choice of beverages on the understanding that they will be sincere with payment.

The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, my Partner is extremely fussy with the way in which full English’s are cooked but he said this one “was cooked to perfection” & to my surprise he cleared the plate! They also set out a selection of bread, fresh fruit, pastries, smoke salmon, ham.......the choice was very good.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family & friends and we will definitely return in the future when we have another family function in Ramsgate.

Had a wonderful time, staff very friendly, it was lovely to come back to a log fire and enjoy a glass of wine and cheese buscuits late into the evening, wonderful company. Breakfast 1st class. We choose a cabin room and it was rather cosy, but the view was very good. maybe next time we will book a slightly larger room,. Would definately come back.

This is a glorified guesthouse charging four star prices. We were charged £116 for a room in which there was only space to go round the bed one at a time. Manoeuvrability was further limited by a large bushy potplant full of dusty leaves, the bedroom chair was threadbare and the rest of the furniture looked like it had come from a charity shop. We were on the third floor with no lift and had a great view of the back yards of Ramsgate. The breakfast was good, standard British b and b fare.

Had a lovely sea view and enjoyed the added extras such as the complimentary cheese and biscuits in the lounge, open fires, magazines and papers.

Staff really friendly and welcoming. Great breakfast too

Our bathroom was tiny (but we had been warned in advance so ok). Only improvement was that the breakfast room was very hot and a bit airless. Would definitely stay again
