Satis House, 11 Elms Avenue, Ramsgate, Kent, CT11 9BW
Went to see the recent exhibition and was excited and stimulated by the eclectic mix of 20 – 21 Century contemporary art. Some more notable names as above but some interesting new artists are included in the exhibition. Martin Fidler reminded me of painting by numbers so quite intriguing. If you are over at Margate do make a diversion to Ramsgate to this splendid new gallery and then walk down to the harbour and visit York Street where new galleries are burgeoning with lots of interesting local art. Follow your visit with a bracing walk along by the main beach to see the Great Wall of Ramsgate and lots of cafes and restaurants to get a meal, even at the end of the east pier there’s a new restaurant. An exciting regeneration of the arts in Ramsgate, bring it on! Fred Fielder, Hon. Chairman EKAS
Updown gallery: Mixed Exhibition of over 30 different artists including,
Gillian Ayres, Francis Bacon, Charming Baker, Peter Blake, Patrick Caulfield, Cedric Christie, Ian Davenport, Martin Fidler, Martin Grover, Richard Hamilton, David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin, Katharine Le Hardy, Henri Matisse, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, Bridget Riley and Andy Warhol.
Some of the works are particularly expensive although others moderately priced but this is a most pleasing gallery well laid out and comfortable to access. There is a small car park beside the gallery as the road is rather full all day with cars parked either side of the road.
Visit and enjoy!
