“First Visit of Many, We Hope!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

IWe found the Langmead on line and chose it because it is just 100 yards from the house where I was born! Having no family left in Ramsgate now, we are delighted to have found Lynne and Derek, who not only keep a spotlessly clean, bright and up to date guesthouse but are really welcoming right from the start. Nothing seems too much trouble for either of them because they are both genuinely interested in their guests. Our room was very comfortable and quiet with a spacious bathroom and Derek's breakfasts are superb! Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: It may well be best to have a room at the back, as we did, especially if you are not used to traffic...

Just returned from a lovely three night stay at Langmead Guesthouse. Lynne and Derek who run this B&B were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom was spacious, overlooking the garden so we weren't affected by the noise from the road. The bathroom was lovely with a huge shower. The breakfasts were delicious, and very filling! This Guesthouse was about a 15 minute walk from the harbour which was perfect when finding somewhere to eat in the evenings. I would definitely recommend this Guesthouse and would like to thank Lynne and Derek for their hospitality.

We stayed at Langmead over a weekend and returned home exhausted because we simply couldn't sleep. The room we were in housed the boiler, making it extremely hot. However, opening the windows was not an option as the house is on a main road that is noisy ALL NIGHT. Furthermore, a family of seagulls seemed to be nesting nearby, and were squawking from the early hours. Even with the windows closed, we could here every car that passed, meaning we had very disturbed sleep. I think double glazing is a must if somewhere is in such a noisy location!
The breakfast, in contrast, was fantastic. Freshly cooked to order every morning with generally high quality ingredients (apart from the sausages which were notably cheap.)
On a more general note, Ramsgate is a bit of a dump. If you're looking for a nice seaside weekend, either go to neighbouring Broadstairs or venture somewhere much nicer like Devon.

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the garden for a better chance of sleep

I came to visit the area and the centre of Kent finding a good place to stay for the night. After going into a very unusual, but very welcoming, nice pub not far from the train station i was told about a 'very nice' guest house not too far away.
Ramsgate looks like a typically quiet village on a Sunday (not much happens or people) but the people are very nice. i though about it and fancied being near the sea rather than a city like Canterbury where all i would find is a pub/club (i don't know).

It's £35 a night for one person to stay in this guesthouse which includes breakfast.
They are a extremely helpful couple who run it, I rang them three times for questions/directions and booking it. I found thier location quite useful, it's near the high street and about a 4 min walk to a pub. 12 mins from the harbour etc.
It's very nice on the inside. Very clean and it felt like a home away from home. The owners offered me a cup of tea and we had a chat. They have a small garden at the back which can be used for smoking or sitting down. After i mentioned that I was going back to the pub before doing some work in my room they offered me a glass of wine and showed me to the room.
Nice, double bed, Tea/Coffee/TV/En-Suite/Window half overlooking garden. Wifi is included and the connection was great considering i had hardly any mobile data signal in the town or harbour. The bed was comfortable and everything was more or less nearby. Downstairs they have a guest lounge where you can watch Sky+ - if no-one else is watching lol. There is a bell downstairs you can ring to get the owners attention if you need something or ask a question.

The hot breakfast was tasty and lovely and was served well presented - best presentation anywhere i've been to, i felt guilty not eating everything! there's also continental - (cereals/ fruit/bread/jam).

My only two faults of the B&B is that the shower/sink hadn't been cleaned properly and it could get a little noisy downstairs from the TV/people moving around. The couple's son also live there and he was been slightly flirty. I would have preferred it being £25 and not £35.

I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: A double bed has more room in it. Room overlooking the garden.

Stayed there for two nights with four friends, using it as a base for our annual walking weekend. We've doing these weekends for seven years around the South East coast. This was one of the best B&Bs we've used. It ticked all the boxes welcoming, clean, easy parking, great breakfast with healthy portions and choice, overall great value for money
