We first stayed a couple of years ago and we’re impressed with the quality of the rooms and friendliness of the staff. We booked to stay over the Jubilee weekend and we’re really disappointed to find there was a wedding reception being held at the hotel, had we known we’d have gone elsewhere. There were signs up saying the reception would go on until 1am, however there was still loud music being played until 4am, which is really unacceptable. Staff did not apologise for this, but it’s unclear whether this was from the wedding reception or the bars next door. Either way we did not sleep. Doubt we’ll be returning again.

We visited over the Queens Jubilee weekend and stopped here for a drink before going for lunch. We were fortunate to get the last available table outside which had a nice view over the harbour. We ordered a pint and a coffee. The pint came out quickly but the coffee arrived a fair bit later. Although both were very nice we thought the price was quite expensive at £8.50! The service was friendly and it was a good spot to watch the world go by in the early June sun.

Room tip: Only stopped for drinks, but ear plugs are recommended if you read the other reviews!

I always look forward to visiting Ramsgate and for me, there's only one place to stay... that's the Oak hotel. The friendly welcome from the staff, my favourite single room and the food, which seems to get better every time I visit. The location is superb overlooking the Royal Harbour. Nothing nicer than having breakfast or dinner overlooking the harbour and of course in summer, sitting outside for a coffee, a drink or a meal. Catherine

Room tip: Front rooms have great view over the harbour. If you're elderly/disabled, it would be better to have a room on the 1st room.

For our annual golfing and hockey trip to the lovely harbour town Ramsgate we had decided to change our hotel and dinning venues for our party of 27. Our choice The Oak Hotel, Harbour Parade in the hearts of the harbour for our accommodation with their Restaurant 66 for our formal dinner.
From our first contact with Tracey (the function manager) to the stay itself the staff were curious and professional, and did exactly what they promised (which is becoming rear these days).
Rooms were clean and tidy, the front harbour facing room had some noise from the harbour bars but this was explained when booking so was not a surprise.
The hotels Restaurant 66 on the ground floor was where our fine breakfast was served and doubled as our evening function room for our formal meal, all I can say about the food and service is that our group has a very wide and diverse make up of people that have no problems speaking there mind, I did not hear anything but praise for the food and service.
Well done the Oak, we have already reserved our rooms for next year.

Room tip: Harbour facing rooms have great views but you do hear the lively harbour night life, rear room good if you want something a little quieter.

We booked into the oak hotel for a weekend away from London by the seaside, mainly because of its location & good reviews.
Check in wasn’t a problem, the receptionist was very friendly, but on entering the room was another story… The wife commented that there was two single beds which she wasn’t happy about, and the room was extremely small. Then when we opened the window as the room was very hot we could hear the ventilation fans from the kitchen wearing away directly outside.
We unpacked and went for a wander around town. In the evening we booked a taxi for 6:30 pm arrive down at reception and I mention to the now chap/supervisor that there was a noise of a fan outside our window, and could something be done…He said that was a kitchen extraction fan and that would generally be on kitchen hours , ( brilliant we thought ), offered no apology or even mentioned about changing rooms, disappointing service off him, we must’ve waited about 20 minutes for the taxi and asked the gentleman what was going on, he laughed and joked that they were probably doing Deliveroo deliveries for the locals… finally the taxi arrived and dropped us off at Minster a local village, after the lovely meal at ‘the corner house’ we returned to the hotel only to find that there was a nightclub right next door with a loud music and lots of drunk people outside on entering the room there was a continual thumping of the base coming through the walls…
So consequently the stay was horrendous and noisy when we mentioned this to the receptionist lady in the morning a young girl she apologised and said they get a lot of complaints about the club, the best rooms are in the back of the hotel unfortunately our room 202 our room was not the best so basically a waste of £70 for the night and a sleepless weekend….
Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place

Room tip: Receptionist mentioned to try and get a room at the back of the hotel our room 202 was horrendous, noisy and sml.
