The hotel was very good, the only issue for us was the parking. Unable to get a space, the parking meter was not working and only a few people were given complimentary parking permits. We had to use the road which whilst being OK was not satisfactory given that you had to move soon after 8 am.
Better use of the frontage would help solve this problem.

Impressive historic building with the air of a country house hotel, but now looking in need of some TLC outside and in rooms. Good location, a 10 minute walk from the town centre, and quiet, despite heavy morning traffic outside. Very friendly receptionist, but housekeeping was haphazard - towels replaced when not needed, but coffee etc. not always replaced and bin not emptied every day.

Hotel is extremely basic and very neglected, such a shame because the outside is beautiful. Our family room was enormous but not clean, the carpet was filthy and so was the bathroom. We were there for 3 days and the floors were not hoovered. There was a stain in the bottom sheet too. And no drawer space, just 4 coat hangers. We lived out of a suitcase on the floor.

Step back in time to this
Lovely old building, friendly staff and great atmosphere. 86 rooms varied in size and traditional
Old style dating back to original the original architecture of 1873, with stain glass windows, high ceilings and creaky staircase travelling up 4 floors to a stunning view over the commons.
