Lovely three bed accommodation with a single bunk upper bed and double bottom bed. Lovely bathroom with shower and modern clean fittings. Kitchenette with fridge, microwave and all utensils provided. Local food packages are great value and beer supplied by local brewery was lovely. Even has TV and USB charging points for those who can’t leave technology alone (like me).
The fire pit is great and the hammock is large enough for two. Highly recommend.
We stayed here on the 9th February to celebrate Valentine’s! The weather may not have been ideal, but the Otchan Hut surpassed our expectations! Such a hidden gem and in such a small space, you had all the facilities you could ask for! If you’re thinking of staying in the winter months, and worry it maybe cold, don’t be...that little log burner def kicks out some heat..we even had to open the windows at one point ha ha Thank you for a great weekend! We stayed at the shepherds hut for a three day long weekend in May. The Hodgson's could. Not have done more to make our escape to the county more perfect.
The hut was full of homely touches and was much more spacious and comfortable than we had expected. The setting was very secluded and you really felt like you had escaped the rat race into a bucolic paradise.
We spent our time discovering the nearly deserted beaches and walking through the peaceful countryside. In the evening we enjoyed drinking beer by the fire pit, relaxing on the hammock and watching the sun slowly set and the stars come out.
The breakfast and barbecue packs were great value and well worth it, full of tasty local produce. I would highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for an escape and some deserved peace and quiet.
Spent two nights here with my partner as a birthday treat to spend time together without our young children.
The hut is excellent - cosy, comfortable and surprisingly well equipped (electric sockets, hair dryer, kettle, electric hob, hot water, shower, TV, radio, microwave, mini fridge, crockery, tea/coffee, electric heater... etc).
The first autumn frosts were upon us and it was howling with wind however there wasn't even a draught and because the owners had given us a plentiful supply of logs we got the log burner going and got the hut really nice and cosy and whiled away the hours chatting and playing cards.
The beds are really comfortable and we slept really well.
In more clement weather the fire pit and seating outside would be lovely for spending time by the pond. I'd have had to be a bit more 'Bear Grylls' though to get a viable fire going in the rain we had.
The location of the hut is perfectly secluded and aside from bumping into someone near the main house on our arrival it really felt like were completely alone in the middle of the beautiful East Yorkshire countryside.
