“Comfortable, great, no nonsense stay”
Reviewed 17 October 2010

By chance I got to book the Premier Inn in Hull, prior to finding out it was No: 1 choice on Tripadvisor. If I'm honest I'd checked some other hotels first, but they were full or way too expensive.
However, this hotel is really really good.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, to a person, from the late-night check-in staff to the breakfast crowd. Tim, on the bar was really cheerful & helpful & I mention him not just as a fellow Devonian, but also because he was a great host.
The rooms were spacious & clean, although there was a bit of noise from the main road.
The views over the old part of Hull were a bonus.
Breakfasts were tremendous, buffet-style with loads of choice & plenty of freshly cooked produce.
We were sorry we didn't try the dinner menu, as that looked good too.
Reasonably priced & in the unlikely event of returning to Hull, I'd stay here again.

Ok it's on top of a tower block - but looks can be deciving because inside it's lovely!
THE GOOD:
1). Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff - she knew her stuff and (unlike other Premier Inn's) informed us of their good nights sleep policy and other amnemities and how we could contact them for any assistance.
2). Lovely bar/restaurant area with amazing views and sun beams in during the day - very nice! We had breakfast, which was really nice (even the continental option!)
3). ATM (always a plus!) and dispensor machines with food and drinks
4). Good spacious rooms and affordable
5). Around the corner from The Deep Acquarium, which is a must visit! Some reviewers complained about local area around hotel lacking anything, but this is Hull! And as long as you have a car, you'll be fine.
6). Good water pressure on showers.

THE BAD
1). ..... our room was so cold! There were instructions for different settings, but the "heating" options was not on ours remote, maybe becuase it was only Sept. Also, I think the main problem was the bathroom (which was far cooler then the bedroom) ... I think lit acked proper insultation. Bathroom heaters are desperately needed and year round heating.... enjoyable stay overall, but slightly ruined by cold room (ended up with the sniffles!)

Plenty of secure parking and lifts to reception on the 7th floor. All rooms(floors 8-12) have views of the River Humber and Humber Bridge or over the River Hull and the Old Town. It is a short walk into the old town with its market and pubs. The Museums of Streetlife and Wilberforce House and gardens are well worth a visit as is theTown Docks Museum of fishing and whaling. The Marina and old pier is a short walk awayand the Deep, a wonderful aquatic experience for young and old, is just across the road..Then there are planty of shops in the Princess Quay built over the water and more further on if you like shopping.
The East coast beaches of Hornsea,(45 minutes) Bridlington (1 hour) and Scarborough (1 1/2 hours)are.a short drive away. There are many good eating klaces in pubs around about outside of Hull to the east and west, but Hull has many good restaurants particularly Aroma a chinese restaurant on Beverley Road and The Lantern in Whitefriargate. Hull has a bad press but we were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of everyone and how much there is to do. At the £29 a room offer, we had a very "cheap" stay and enjoyed a large family gathering Sunday lunch in the Premier Inn Restaurant. the Beef and Ale pie. is a REAL pie with proper pastry top and bottom! The other meals were excellent. The chef sources locally where possible (including the sausages at breakfast).Local knowledge from all the staff, including weather forcasts was a great help. There is a fast and efficient booking of taxis if you don't want to use your car.The staff seemed genuinely to care that you enjoyed your stay, particularly at "their" hotel.

As I am from 'Ull it was nice to return but stayed in a hotel this time as no room at relatives houses when we booked it!

Very helpful and friendly staff. Check-in was smooth (once we got the the 7th floor with only 1 lift working!) and informative. Had dinner the first night which was good value as had the special 2 courses for £9.95.

Central location was very handy and the room was exceptional for a budget hotel. Extremely comfy bed and the shower was awesome!!

Will defo be back. Credit to everyone there!!

From our arrival on Sunday until us leaving this morning we were very impressed by the level of service, standard of our room and location of this hotel. It is very family friendly, the staff actually acknowledged the children and spoke to them! The check-in was great and the staff very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was superb and the service spot on. The hotel is across the road from the Deep and a 15 minute walk to the museum quarter and town centre- all brilliant! Go to Hull-it's great :-)

Never having been to Hull before, we wondered what awaited us. The brilliant weather certainly may have helped, but combined with the accommodation and a frielndly city we had a wonderful 4 day break.
At first view the Premier Inn looks a little daunting. The area appears a little run down and construction work abounds around it. However parking is no problem at all and once you ride up in the lift to the reception the view is amazing. On booking in the staff were friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful. The room for a so called budget hotel, extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast is not included in the price, but there is plenty of it and good quiality. We intended going out in the evenings, but the meals were so inviting and well priced that we ate in house. Altogether a hotel we will gladly return to.
