The only time I have ever spent a night in Hull.
I saw a notice for the Bagpuss and Clangers exhibition, so zoomed over - only to be told I was "too late and the doors were closed".
I looked at my watch and it was 3 SECONDS past the "last entry" time. The place would remain open for another 30 minutes.
I only wanted to spend 10 minutes and see Bagpuss.
Very disappointed by the attitude.

Thank LancashireHel

Visited June 2018. A mainstay of my time at the university it is good to see the overhaul of the building. Now nicely arranged although no cloakroom. A sound collection of paintings, space for exhibitions (Bagpuss and Clangers not forgetting Noggin the Nog) and highlighted borrowings from the Royal Collection in London. Cafe small and limited shop. Main concern is the relatively poor information on the paintings in the main collection. The captions were standard art museum: title, artist, size, etc. In galleries like this there does need to be more information about the painting, the style, what it may or may not represent.. an informative viewer based approach and not one just for those who know paintings. The website is very poor and looks like a city council boring site. Really needs to be upgraded with more illustrations of the paintings, bring it into the 21st century of galleries.

Hadn't been to this gallery for years. Nice clean interior that is well laid-out. Information boards are excellent. Good variety of exhibits.
Only gripe was that café 'rules' were odd. Having to find a table number before you can order is difficult when many of the tables are a long way from the cashier and most gallery-goers will not have anything to leave on the table to show that is 'theirs'

The staff need more training on how to treat different people equally. Maybe having some patience and being a bit friendly would be a start.

Living in Hull I regularly visit the art gallery as although some painting and statues remain the same, they do have different exhibitions on during different months. Not a massive art gallery compared to some but think you will find something to suit every taste. There is guides on for any assistance and always very helpful. The gallery is free to go in but they do ask for donations as any gallery would but is voluntary. There is a cafe inside that does some nice food but as only small can be busy. There is also a small gift shop inside.
