The galleries and exhibits concentrate on transport and shops. For older visitors like ourselves, there was plenty of "I remember that!", but also a lot to discover. The carriage gallery, showing a range of horse-drawn vehicles in full dioramas with costumed characters was brilliant: seeing how people would have experienced these forms of transport highlighted just how uncomfortable some (most?) must have been! As with all Hull's civic museums, this is FREE to visit, so if you only have ten minutes, or only want to see bicycles (or an old chemist shop, or any of the other particular exhibits), it's still worth going.
