We occasionally pop over from Grimsby for a night in the Old Town of Hull because we love it!

We stay in the Premier Inn so just pop over the swing bridge and are into it in a matter of minutes. There is a beautiful landscaped seating area just over the bridge then you turn right into the museum quarter and the olde worlde pubs and eateries are right in front of you. We usually begin the day early with shopping or sightseeing, there are some great museums but unfortunately they do not open on a Sunday, which I find rather strange! Then after a nice break and getting ready for the evening we go into the old town. We always eat first, this time at Garbo's (doing that review next!) and then head to all the lovely old style pubs which are beautifully furbished, clean and very welcoming. The narrow cobbled streets and welcoming facades and interiors makes for a great night out!

Just a short visit but really didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Had no idea that Hull was where the English civil war began. Some unfortunate homeless folk about but no issues.

We visited Hull to pay homage to Philip Larkin (there is a trail that you can follow) and had quite low expectations of the city, given its status in the book: "Crap Towns" - but we were pleasantly surprised by its various nooks and crannies. Some lovely looking old pubs and Georgian houses.

Me and my girlfriend live in te old town area and love it. It has loads to offer. The pubs and bars are great and wise choice of real ales. And plenty of nice places to eat.

Loved it. We were given advice directions and people were helpful. Pub staff and landlords were willing to talk and listen.
