“Very comfortable stay, excellent value.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2011

We stayed 2 nights at the Kingston Theatre hotel with our 2 boys age 13 and 10 in 1 room and had a very good stay. Our room and the ensuite were spotlessly clean. The room is probably really intended for 3 with a double and a large single, so there was a 4th "camper bed" for one of our sons. This made the room slightly cramped and the boys found the camper bed quite uncomfortable. Other than that, we would highly recommend this hotel. The location is wonderful, in a lovely quiet square, definitely in the better part of Hull, but only a short walk to the station and the centre. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. We would definitely stay again.

This was our 3rd visit to this very welcoming hotel. Staff are always excellent and cheerful. The rooms are clean and well furnished. It is very good value for money and we will return again. Breakfasts are very good indeed and freshly cooked from an a la carte menu.

I stayed here for one night for my son's graduation. My other teenage son and two year old daughter were with me. I liked the hotel, it is a converted old victorian townhouse which meanders along one side of a 'crescent' with a little green park area at the centre and the theatre on the other side. Its only a few minutes walk to the town centre and there is plentiful, metred parking outside (quite pricey).

We booked an executive room at £65.00 including breakfast which was excellent value. The room was massive, huge high ceilings and a beautiful big bathroom which is bigger than some hotel rooms I have stayed in!

We had a large bed, probably queen, loads of pillows and extra bedlinens in the cupboard. This room had everything you need and for the price, I thought it excellent value.

A large walk in closet was a built in feature for clothes so no ugly wardrobe. Also inside was an iron, ironing board, trouser press, pair of bathrobes and slippers.

The TV was a large flat screen and a dvd player was also present. In another cupboard, was a fridge with milk and bottled water inside. The usual hospitality tray was there, and toiletries for the bathroom. There were plenty of towels and the bed was comfortable.

A large five arm light fitting in the ceiling with normal bulbs was a refreshing change from the usual dim lighting you get in hotels. A fan was included although we were there on a chilly day, I could see the room would be quite stuffy in hot weather. One of the massive sash windows could be opened however and the area is a quiet little street away from the main bustle of the city. We heard not a peep all night.

The 12ft high ceilings gave you a great feeling of space and light as well as the room being large. A desk was there along with two tub armchairs and a small table. I would have happily stayed here for longer if needed.

There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel, we did not eat at the restaurant but it was full and busy when we arrived and seemed popular. Breakfast was fine, usual full english, nothing fancy but all cooked well. Also available, cereals and yoghourt.

The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful. We had a bottle of wine in the hotel bar before bed which was very quiet, if you are looking for something a bit livelier, probably want to find somewhere else for a drink.

Downsides: For disabled people and guests with babies in buggies, be warned there are steep steps up to the main entrance (maybe there is an accessible entrance around the back...). Many rooms are also in the adjoining townhouses and need to be accessed by going back down to the street and then back up more steps, then there are stairs up to the rooms. As far as i could tell, only the main part of the hotel has a lift, so be sure to ask to stay here if you don't want to deal with stairs.

The shower was a bit of a dribble and the bath taps and shower ran at the same time. I could find no way of turning off the bath taps so you have to stand in the water as you shower. No doubt, pressure would be improved if you could shunt all the water to the shower head. Not a big deal really.

The location and staff are perfect. It is situated just in front of the New Hull Theater and you are on 5 minutes walk from the city center and 10 minutes from the train station. The staff will explain you everything that you need to know about the city. I highly recommend this place.

We got married at the Kingston Theatre Hotel on 8th October, and from the initial viewing, to booking, to planning and finally the big day, all i can say is that the staff were AMAZING! Angie, Gary, and the lady on reception (sorry i can't remember her name!) in particular were fab! They talked us through everything and made the day so special. The food was incredible, the staff made all of our guests feel so welcome, and the rooms are beautiful. We stayed in the Emily Suite, which had a super kingsized bed, a huge en suite and a massive tv, the only downside was that we only got about 6 channels, one of which was the hotels cctv! But then again if you're staying in the honeymoon suite, tv is not really a concern!! They went to extra effort to make sure my Nana's room was ready for her to check in early as she had travelled a long way. The staff seemed to know what we needed before we even had to ask, it made the day run very smoothly. The wedding package we chose was such great value for money, i will be recommending it to all my engaged friends!

We had a one night stay at this hotel. the location is very good just a short walk to the shops pubs restaurants and marina so no need to use the car or get taxis.

Although the hotel doesnt have a car park there is plenty of meters available right out side for a short while and a pay and display just over the road. The receptionist was very help full and advised us that we only needed to pay up to 6.30pm and that it was free on a sunday. So the two days parking cost £1.60. The hotel appears to have been recently refurbished freshly painted and carpets looked new. Breakfast was excellent and is served up to 10am over the weekend.
We had one of the executive rooms which was very spacious and quiet so I would recommend paying the little bit extra for these rooms. Our daughter had a single standard room which was smaller but still a good size and had the benefit of a double bed.
The service from all members of staff was fantastic, the reception staff were very helpfull with car parking, directions to the rooms and how to find a restaurant we had booked.

Breakfast staff again were very good and provided my daughter with a vegetarian breakfast at very short notice.
House keeping were again very helpful as our friends left some luggage in the room which was safly returned

Overall a very good & reasonably priced hotel in Hull

Will return for sure

The room was hugely hot and stuffy when I first arrived (on an average August afternoon) and it took a while to cool down after dark with the window wide open. The mattress on the bed must have been ancient as it had lost all spring and had been flattened on one side where people had been sitting, so I was lying on a slope in the night. The main problem was the noise. There was a wedding in the function room directly underneath the bedroom and the disco thumped through the floor so sleep was impossible. I phoned reception to find out when the noise would cease and it took over 10 minutes for anyone to answer, despite the notice on the door which cheerfully informed me that reception was there to help with any problem 24 hours a day; simply not true, sadly. I do think they might have warned me and put me in a room well away from the source of the noise; the hotel didn't seem to be very full judging by the 6 people at breakfast. Not a place I will be hastening back to.
