excellent breakfast, really nice and helpful staff, wonderfully clean room, and superb location, in a walking distance with many different kinds of cafes and groceries, and also quite close to the station, etc.

This is a small friendly hotel in the centre of hull. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming. My single room was on the small side but fantastic value. Excellent food and I have booked a return visit.

Looking for a change of hotel to use in Hull. The Kingston Theatre was fourth highest scoring hotel in Hull on Trip Advisor, with the top three all being Premier Inns.

My mistake may have been to book a single room. It was very cheap but only just adequate.

I would like to support independent hotels and smaller businesses, but once again I have been disappointed. I am afraid I will be staying at the Premier Inn again next time I visit Hull

We stayed in the “Victorian Suites” of this hotel in June 2014 for one night and a very enjoyable stay it was. The hotel occupies a number of terrace houses opposite the Theatre and a sweet little park. Our room was on the first floor of a Victorian terrace, up a slightly dilapidated, but rather charming elliptical staircase. The room itself was spacious and contained two tub chairs and the most divinely comfortable king-size bed. The mattress was covered with a soft pillow top and I could have stayed there all day.

The bathroom, too, was large and bright. We dined in the restaurant. The décor in the restaurant is tired, but don’t let that deter you. The food and service are very good. We were served lovely hot rolls and both chose the lamb roast, which was deliciously tender, served with mint sauce, gravy, roast potatoes and lots of vegetables. The service was attentive and friendly. We also ate breakfast in the dining room, although neither of us ate a hot breakfast, I was pleased with the generous serving of porridge and tasty coffee.

I would happily stay at the hotel again, the owners obviously take pains to ensure their guests are comfortable.

We only stayed one night but did enjoy it. There was a family-like atmosphere which overcame the rather average facilities. So before I start rambling on, above all else, expect a really warm feeling. And at the price it amounted to excellent value. It's in some late Victorian houses that have been knocked together. So the place is a bit of a warren and not state of the art. I'm happy with this but some might find it a little rough-and-ready. My only complaint (room 21), as so often with hotels. was the shower. This just didn't work. Normally there's something wrong with them but this exhibited the full list of idiosyncrasies, effectively rendering the name shower as misleading in the extreme.
Minimal water flow,
Nozzle that wouldn't stay where it was pointed, preferring to spray the taps
No temperature controls, you could either have scalding or freezing.
No control between bath and shower, this seemed random

If you are tempted I'd visit soon as it's situated in the only attractive square left in Hull, no doubt to be knocked down in preparation for Hull's stint as city of culture in 2017. They've even nibbled at this with what looks like a 1960's fire station replacing a quarter of the old buildings.

Stayed here for the first time, usually stay at the Premier Inn but this Kingston Theatre Hotel was more competitively priced and included breakfast. Would stay here again, the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was very clean and the facilities were good. Would stay here again, excellent location for the shops and places to visit

A great choice for people visiting Hull. We received a warm welcome from caring staff who were able to solve all of our concerns. The rooms are large and the breakfasts hearty and served by cheerful waitresses. The location is central and located on Hull's only parkland square. There is live theatre within a one minute's walk, a real bonus in the evening! It's also within easy walking distance of most of Hull's museums and its gem of an art gallery, and the historic old town. Try it, you'll like it.
