“Lovely Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

My Partner surprised me with an overnight stay in Hull this weekend, for my birthday.
We arrived at the Kingston and were greeted with a lovely classic building directly opposite the New Theatre, with a picturesque park between the two. There isn't any parking but, at booking my partner was reliably informed of the cheap car park nearby and that we'd only have to pay for it until 6pm on Saturday then the rest of the weekend would be free - this was much cheaper than the pay and display parking outside the hotel - that we would have parked in otherwise.
We stayed in the Victoria Suites adjacent to the hotel - a lovely Victorian building that had the feel of an old hotel whilst still being clean and presentable. Our room/ suite was furnished to a high standard with a huge bed, seating area, fridge, huge tv and nice bathroom with bath and shower, lots of towel, robes and slippers. The bed was very comfy and I had no problem sleeping through! I only wish we'd had more time to spend in the room - I can see why people would book these rooms for business trips/ several days!
There was a wedding on in the hotel and we didn't hear any noise at all from it or from people returning to their rooms.
In the morning we had breakfast in the hotel which was tasty and far more than I could eat - veggie full-english, toast, tea, juice. There was a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts pastries/ croissants also. The ladies that served us breakfast could not have been nicer/ more friendly and the food was lovely.
Two full days exploring Hull was wonderful and this hotel was the icing on the cake - thank you we will definitely be back!!

My wife and I stayed there for just one night (we were taking the Zeebrugge ferry the next day) and enjoyed the stay very much. Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast with plenty of choices, coffee served at the table. The room is big enough even to handle three large pieces of luggage. Comfortable bed, well-equipped bathroom. And this for a very reasonable prices - about 60 GBP. Thoroughly recommendable. Just one remark: you have to lug your suitcase up the entry stairs (about 10 steep steps) before you reach the reception. After that you have an elevator.

Room Tip: Room 17 shares a corridor behind a door with only one other room (16).

We stayed at the Kingston for two ninghts to break up our trip to Spurn Point. We had an executive suite which was roomy and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and after a very wet walk out at the point I enjoyed a realaxing hot, deep bath. The room was very quiet, and the full breakfast was tasty. I would recommen this as a place to stay.

We chose this hotel because of the price, we upgraded to executive suite and were really impressed by the size of the room and the size of the bed. It was lovely and clean, plenty of towels, tea coffee sugar etc and dressing gowns. The breakfast both mornings was great with a perfect sized cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, croissants, yogurts and fruit juices. The staff were really helpful and cheery. It's location is great for a quick walk into the city centre but not so close that you hear any noises that could keep you awake. We will definitely be staying again next time we find somebody brave enough to take the children on for a couple of nights!

Lovely and welcoming staff. Room was very comfortable, Good choice of selections for breakfast. Shower was difficult to get to right temperature and was extremely hot. Good location especially for Kingston Theatre, but easy walk to city centre and marina.

First time in Hull and selected this hotel because close to city centre and where I had some work to do. Easy to find, walking distance to all amenities, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Great breakfast in morning. I'll definitely be back.
