They have just not got it right in this pub since the
refurb. The layout seems to have split the lounge and the
main entrance as been moved to were the glass sliding doors
were located,so now if they have a band/group on they appear to
be jammed up at the other end of the lounge taking up quite a
few seats and a few tables and chairs piled up in the corner.
The mens toilet was overflowing again and I heard a few of the
regulars complain about this again on the night. The landlady
called Charlie was nowhere to been seen. The food is not as
good as it could be.The lights in lounge are to bright on
a night and you have to ask the staff to turn the lights
down, really they should know this when setting up for the live
music etc.Getting served is a challenge the staff do not seem
to have an eye for who is next.Sometimes it like waiting for
a bus not one in sight and then suddenly three appear at the
same time with no idea who was waiting to be served first.
There is plenty of room for improvement, the Landlady as
only got to ask the regulars for some opinions for improvement.

The Saltshouse (FKA Saltshouse Tavern) is my local which I hardly ever went into, since it’s refurb, I’ve been in twice and had two very nice well priced meals. The lounge feels more modern and they have a good selection of drinks. I would recommend the beef and ale pie with double gloucester cheese.

My daughter took her 4 year old daughter for a teatime treat at this newly refurbed venue we have all previously used. From the minute they got in a group of loud mouth lads blasted out disgusting abusive language in the eating area , even offending the bar staff with harsh comments. If this is the new allowable standard being set then we won’t go again . There a bar at the other side and I believe the management should jump on this behaviour straight away.
PS The food was really good but the clientele failed miserably.

Well there are lots of pubs around and decided to pop in for our dinner as 6pmish. Glad we did. It was quiet at first but people were slowly turning up. There was some low level music playing & a game machine in the corner playing a loop. The menu is not massive like other pub chains but thoughtfully laid out with some interesting and different meals. Bottles of wine start at under 10 quid and every day features a meal and drink deal for just under 6 quid. Live music, quiz nights and other themes. The food was fabulous well cooked chicken burgers with pulled chicken and bacon with spicy sauce. Crisp and hot chips. It's was served quickly and by very pleasant staff. Locally this pub served the best meal around and has a varied menu worth trying. There is a gluten free section too.

Back again today 16/11/2017 as this pub has been refurbished.
What a nice change. Smart, clean stylish looks. Old carpet gone & several pool tables added.
Once again fab food. I had the tripple chicken burger with chips and a beer (2 chicken gougons, a fillet and pulled with bacon n cheese!!!) Wife had a chicken chees & bacon melt burger with chips snd a drink. All for £18.58. Nice selection of ales and house wone starts at £8.50 per bottle.
Great service, food (hot till the end) & great value.
Go there. They do theme nights and tonight (thursday) was grill n drink night. This is a big improvement on the original.
We will be back again.

Iv had a couple of meals and visits since the pub has been refurbed and on every occasion I have been impressed. I would rate this pub the best in the local area and well worth a visit.
