Owner description: Fort Paull is the only fully intact Napoleonic Fortress in the North. Covering 10 acres of land this Museum is full of Underground tunnels and rooms, fantastic exhibits and on most weekends throughout the Summer, fantastic displays and events. The Fort is also the home of the worlds only surviving Blackburn Beverley Aircraft. There is also a fully licenced bar and tea rooms on site.

“American Car Show Disappointment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2014

Went to the American Classic Car and American Day on the 6th April 2014. Wasn't even there 30minutes. £6.00 each to get in and there was not even 20 cars there. Some of which were not classic American cars but normal modern vehicles. This place needs lottery funding, and each exhibit needs a over hall. Doesn't seem that anyone who works there litter picks, and some areas are over grown with weeds. But the lady at the till was very welcoming and friendly which is a good sign. It's a shame the rest of the place lets it down. This could be a fantastic attraction due to it's location and possibilities. It just seems with lack of funds it is not getting any TLC. It needs to be closed and re-vamped with new displays and maybe SFX.

“Better than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014 via mobile

Was pleasantly surprised. One look at the entrance to the Fort would make people turn away as £18.00 entry fee for a family would seem a little steep. But the place is a gold mine of facts, memorabilia about the amazing people who have served and are serving in the Forces. Fantastic place to visit with children as there are two cafés and a play area. Just needs someone with some money to give it some financial help. Loved it.

interesting but limited and Paull itself is not very inspiring. Paull is very small and being developed for renewable energy investment.

“A good effort at providing an attraction around an ageing structure.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

I have lived in the area for years and never been before.
The site has been in use for hundreds of years as a fortification and has a whole bunch of history.

The exhibits are a bit random but the kids (aged ten )enjoyed the adventure of finding things and then trying to place them in chronological order.

The playground was very usable and the cafe was welcoming.

The cost of admission to the site was low and we are very likely to go again in the summer on one if the event days/weekends.

“Bit home-spun, but we enjoyed it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014

It may not appeal to everyone, but we spent over two and a half hours there and enjoyed it. It is low budget and relies on volunteers. It tries to tell the story of the site from Tudor times to present via WW1 and WW2. I found the WW2 stuff the most coherent and interesting. Some of the story boards have quirky editorial comments (see if you can find why they think the Germans are good at claiming deck chairs when on holiday!). It is a big site, there are a number of uneven concrete stairs and it is cold and dark underground......... if you can live with that it is well worth the effort.
