“Wonderful Break in the Lakes”
Reviewed 9 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

I have just arrived back home following a weeks break at the Waters Edge Lodge and wanted to share what was a truly fabulous stay. Although we did not have great weather all the time, the lodge was warm and cosy and had everything you would need to have a happy stay.

The lodge has all you need to cook great meals, relax and have fun and games...didn't even have o bring any books. We also did plenty of walking around the lakes and enjoyed a long walk from Morecambe to Heysham.

We visited the on site leisure complex most days and enjoyed the well equipped gym and swimming pool. The food in the restaurant was also excellent.

Thanks Frida, for providing everything as you promised, a wonderful break!

Best regards
Bob and Julia x

The advert for this lodge is perfect. Luxury accommodation beside a beautiful relaxing lake. The perfect location for touring the lake district. Can't wait to return!

“Beautiful lodge but not suitable for fishing”
Reviewed 22 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed here for 3 nights at the begining of September. Frida was very helpful with our stay as we needed to change the dates due to the dogs not being able to come (The area the lodge is located in allows dogs but its down to the owners of the lodges to decide if they are to allow them in or not, Which is fair enough!)

When we arrived we had a little trouble checking in and getting the key as the lady behind the desk insisted that they didn't hold the keys on site and it wasn't their job to give out the keys. She said we needed to get in touch with the owner to retreive the key from them. After a short while another gentleman came out with our key and apologised so I don't know what the confusion was!

The lodge itself was gorgeous. All the equiptment was of a very high quality and it was lovely to be able to find everything we might of needed. The only thing I would say was there was no bin bags.. There wasnt one in the bin and there was none in the cuboards (And was the one thing I had forgotten!) But not too much to worry about.

The cleanliness however was where the 4* reveiw has come in. The shower was covered in really long black hairs, The bath mat was covered in what looked like pubic hairs and a lot of brown stains and the bed was covered in hair too.. I dont know if this was because someone had left the following day but surely all bedding and shower mats should be changed? There was grime in the shower and the sink was filthy. We also had to wash all the cutlery we wanted to use as this was dirty too. There was also a LOT of cobwebs throughout. I don't put this down to the owners as I know they were out of the country at the time so would be relying on an external company coming in and cleaning for them, which is a shame as Frida has made the lodge a lovely place to relax.

Another thing that we found dissapointing was the fishing. The only reason this lodge was booked was so we could fish from the lodge as a birthday present to my partner. We brought all of our fishing gear and popped to a fishing shop about 15 minutes away to get bait. However on arrival there was no chance we would be able to fish as the water is absolutley heaving with reeds. We were told we could fish anywere around the lake so we walked round to find a spot with no reeds but were unable to fish there as there was construction work going on and JCB's flying about. Which again.. is a shame because that was why I booked this lodge.

Lastly, On one of the night the electricity went off for about 3 hours.. So we were unable to shower, cook anything or watch the telly, but not to worry too much as we went for a walk instead.

This is a really lovely lodge and Fria should be proud of it, Its just a shame that some factors let it down. But would deffinatley come back if it became possible to fish.

In response to your recent review. May l first point out that it is clear you still bear a grudge following my refusal not to let you bring your dogs to the lodge and your intention is clearly to discredit your stay.

I do appreciate that you pointed out that l did indeed accommodate you at such short notice, especially as this was just one week before the booking date. Which is why l was so surprised to receive such an unpleasant review, you clearly did not appreciate my understanding and kindness to you!

However, we both know what has fuelled your review, although the reason was down to you having to change your booking due to your over site in not reading the terms and conditions that clearly states no pets!

Checking in - I am not sure why you mentioned this, as it was a misunderstanding and was rectified very quickly according to you message.

Fishing - I do sympathies with this and it can be a problem, however this is out of our control and during the summer months the reeds are at their highest.

The electricity - This can trip off when the site is full during the summer months but again this is not something we can control. However, this is simply rectified by switching back on at the fuse box.

Cleanliness - With regards to cleaning. We will of course look into this and we have noted your comments (not sure why you needed to use such an adjective)?

Clearly your review is an attempt to make what appears to have been a pleasant stay into an unpleasant stay, although you say you would stay again?

Best wishes

“Perfect Getaway”
Reviewed 24 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

A truly beautiful location, the pictures do not do it full justice.
We stayed for 5 nights, the lodge is absolutely stunning and finished to a very high standard with a very homely feel and had everything you could possibly need.
The children really enjoyed the Pool in the leisure centre and my daughter will miss waking up every morning and feeding the ducks from the patio and jetty.
The view from both inside the lodge and the patio of the lake is fantastic and was a wonderful sight to wake up to every day. all in all a very relaxing holiday in a great location and a nice base to visit the surrounding areas.
Thank you

“Fantastic break”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lodge is exactly as shown in the pictures although we did feel that the lodge could have been cleaned slightly better before our arrival. The location is excellent and my young children thoroughly enjoyed feeding the Ducks! The lodge is within comfortable driving distance to areas such as Windermere and Penrith - plenty of activities to keep the children entertained. We ate in the restraunt for our last night and felt that the food was of very good quality. Will definitely want to return in the near future!
