We stayed at the elder grove in early January. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in was finished to a high standard and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. I would recommend a stay here if you are heading to Ambleside.

Just back from a two night break at Elder Grove Ambleside for my birthday. We arrived pretty early about 13:00 so that we could use the car park and have walk around Ambleside. I went to inform Paul the owner and chef that we were leaving our car and would checkin at the stated time of 14:00. No problem Paul said our room was ready and that we could check in, after the formalities we were shown to our Kingsize bedded room number 8, quite a trek to the top floor if you are not totally active. The room was very nice with everything that you could want for a short break, plenty of drawer a n d cupboard space a wall mounted tv and tea and coffee tray.
Breakfast on both mornings were very good, and excellent choice of cereals and prepared fruits and yoghurt and full range cooked breakfast.

The hotel is in a great position for parking up and strolling into Ambleside for evening meals or as a base to reach most areas to start your walk.

Thank you Paul and Vicky we would stay again.

Its difficult sticking a pin in the map to go away for a couple of days and hoping you have made the best choice - but in this case we did! I loved everything about it; the food, the location, the cleanliness, but mostly I just loved all the extra little touches - like throws on the bed if you felt like snuggling up, magazines, a hotwater bottle, cotton buds in the bathroom, lovely toiletries. Those things that you wish you had brought yourself. The breakfast was great and we were spoilt for choice. I would love to go back.

We had some business to do in Grasmere for a couple of days and wanted what we thought would be a handy place to crash each night. Well it was if you count it as a 5* crash pad. Neither of us are keen on the over the top service you sometimes get from 5* hotels and we rarely have time for the services those hotels provide. What this delightful B&B gives you is a 5* room without all the services we never use but have to pay for in a hotel. Paul & Vicky picked up immediately that we were exhausted and were friendly without being over the top. They helped me find a gluten free restaurant to eat every night, had loads of options for gluten free breakfast and we even got to charge our electric car for 2 nights - what more could you want. We'll be back and would thoroughly recommend this lovely little gem to anyone.
