We are now into our third day staying at Elder Grove and are very impressed. Paul and Vicky are excellent hosts and very keen to make their guests welcome and feel at home. The breakfasts are extensive and offer quality food which is truly homemade - the marmalade and tomato ketchup are superb. This is a very professionally run business with a personal touch and we shall certainly book here again. Our only complaint about this holiday is that England have just been knocked out of the World Cup, but we can't blame Paul or Vicky for that !

Room Tip: All rooms look to be good quality, but the better views are from the rear rooms.

Stayed on a 3 night weekend break. Great B&B, central location and very helpful hosts. High standards maintained throughout...fab breakfast, comfy bed, very powerful shower. Nice room touches from plenty of toiletries, tv, coffee/t/hot choc, biscuits, magazines and quality info.
Quality facilities incl. car parking, very nice sitting and dining rooms as well as a small bar/lounge that adds to the experience.

I have just returned from staying at Elder Grove, which I found by chance on the internet. It really is a fantastic place to stay and as others have said, Paul and Vicky have thought of everything! I stayed in a single room and it was all very clean and tastefully done. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great night's sleep on all 3 nights. Plenty of tea etc available in the room too! Lots of choice for breakfast and they always set me up very well for the day, whether it be out on the fells or a more relaxing day! What was particularly good was that there is plenty of space to relax outside of the room, e.g. in the lounge, in the bar etc, and also that there is WIFI access. Also, that they sell home made jam and marmadale, and that they have access to a local spa that guests can therefore use, and so much more! I definitely recommend this Guest House as a great place to stay!

We made our second visit to Elder Grove in May and stayed for 4 nights. We chose Elder Grove again as we knew we wouldn't be disappointed by the quality, comfort and attention to detail. We weren't let down.

Elder Grove is set in a great location just south of the centre of Ambleside, which is an easy stroll away. Having visited the Lakes for a number of years, Ambleside is our location of choice because of the range and quality of shops and restaurants on offer. Parking is available to the side and rear of the B&B, which can be a bit tight if the B&B is full and you are the last to arrive back after a day on the fells!

The room we had was no.11 at the top of the house. It was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. The king size bed was very comfy and the views from the bed are lovely to wake up to. A well stocked tea tray is in each room, with fresh milk and water available at request.

But where Elder Grove really excels is its owners, Paul and Vicky. Nothing is too much to ask and they have really thought of everything. Breakfast is plentiful with a huge amount of choice available each day. Service from Vicky is friendly and quick, whilst Paul's breakfasts are fresh and top class everyday. They are always interested in your plans for the day, advise you of where to go or where best to eat out. On our previous visit they very helpfully took out wet walking boots and socks to their drying area so that we had dry footwear for our next day's walk. During our stay this year we made use of their extensive supply of walking leaflets and cut outs, which have helpfully been laminated so they withstand all weathers.

Elder Grove really is top class. We hope to visit again soon!

Room Tip: Room 11 is at the top of the house so very quiet and with great views over Loughrigg Fell. It is qu...

We stayed for one night this time, the room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The owners couldn't be more helpful! The breakfast choices were to a hotel standard and the choices from the buffet perfect. We would aim to stay there again if we found ourselves in Ambleside,

This is a perfect place to stay in the lakes, perfect location, excellent rooms and perfect hosts.

There are so many little personal touches that make this far more than a bnb. From the umbrellas by the door to the games for the kids in the lounge and bar to the home baked bread, home made jams and even home made tomato sauce at breakfast.

Everything is locally sourced and every little detail of the accommodation has been thought about to make everything that little bit more special than you would expect.

An excellent bnb and we will be back

Recently myself and my partner had a 2 night stay at the elder grove to celebrate 5 years together. As it was a present of my mum i didnt really no what to expect as id never stayed in a b&b befor.... we arrived early so we asked if it was possible to leave the car in the carpark while we looked around untill we could check in, we were greeted by paul who very kindly let us check in early , he showed us to our room wich was bigger than expected and very clean. Location was great with the town not even 1 min walk away and only 5 mins walk away from where you can get a boat ride to the next town ! Very peaceful nights sleep , extra comfy bed might of had something to do with that! Breakfast in the morning was amazing so tastey and fresh with really nice touches of homemade jams marmalades and bread on offer made by paul! Overall a really lovely relaxed homely stay, defo stay again and defo be recommending to family who stay in ambleside many times a year!
