This was our first visit to Neaum Crag Estate and we stayed at Neaum Crag House which is a beautiful old stone manor house overlooking the Langdale Valley. We stayed in the lovely 'Colwith cottage' which has it's own parking space. It's a self-catering accommodation for up to 4 people and a deserved 4* rating. It's spacious, tastefully decorated and the view from the dining area and bedrooms is just breath taking. It's very much 'home from home' and everything is provided down to the smallest detail i.e. salt n pepper, washing liquid, dishcloths, Hairdryer, high chair, etc. All you have to provide are your own bath/handtowels. A lovely personal touch was the bottle of Red wine waiting for us and a welcome card. There are books/games/dvd's for both adults and children and plenty of information on local attractions and walks. There is a swimming pool on site which is shared by the lodges on the estate, but we didn't use it as we were out everyday due to the beautiful weather. Everyday we saw allsorts of wildlife, Rabbits , birds etc. It was fantastic and we were well rested after our week spent there. Just wish we had booked 2weeks instead of the one. If you want peace and quiet, then we highly recommend this amazing cottage, which by the way has internet connection. Perfect! ( More details can be found on their website).

This is a great location and setting for a long weekend or longer break. The quality of our lodge was excellent, very clean and tidy. It is a £10-£15 taxi ride from Ambleside town centre, so not too far.

However the Jacuzzi and swimming pool are a bit disappointing. It caters to quite a few cottages and is always very busy. We hardly could get a chance to use it for the 3 days we were there. When we did get to, we realised the Jacuzzi was broken - would not start and there was no one there to help - so did not get to use it at all.

lovely 3 nights stay in Styhead Tarn cabin at Neaum Crag..a place for a real chilling out time. very nicely done out. Clean and warm with all mod cons.quiet location yet within walking distance of good eating/drinking places. watched the deer graze outside the door and was visited by 2 cheeky ducks in the mornings wanting to share our breakfast.

The neaum crag faculty is an excellent location. Our apartment (squirrel) was perfect for us. Warm and comfortable and a great base for walks without ever having to get into the car. The pub, Talbot bar, at skelwith bridge is just a few minutes away and provides a great welcome. Bit of climb back to the apartment but worth it.

We stayed at Neaum Crag for its location and availability of walks in the area. Dogs are also welcome. Good eating places nearby. The Talbot Bar (nearest), Wainwrights at Chapel Stile and Britannia at Elterwater.

stayed in Easdale Tarn log cabin at naeum crag ,very clean and warm ,it is quiet and peaceful as it was November but I think it would be the same in summer so I have booked again for 2014. Skelwith bridge is 5 minute walk and the Talbot is a dog friendly pub which was ideal with my 2 labs . Breakfast at Chesters is a must also .The cabins are all quite secluded and some have views down to Skelwith Bridge ,a perfect retreat and only couple mile to Ambleside

Room Tip: Some cabins have lovely views some are hidden in trees ,we like views so have booked one called Bolt...
