“A little bit of heaven in the Lakes.”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

We stayed at the Randy Pike for 2 nights as a belated birthday treat. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with fabulous large bathrooms, perfect for pampering yourself in!

The B&B is in a perfect location, you can literally begin your walks from the door step, and you are close to lovely little towns/villages such as Ambleside and Hawkshead, great for exploring on a lazy day.

I would recommend a trip to the Jumble Room for your dinner ( Andy and Chrissy restaurant in Grasmere), there is such a great atmosphere here and it has long been a firm favourite of ours. The menu is seasonal and ingredients locally sourced.

The best bit about the Randy Pike for us is that your hosts are so welcoming, you are made to feel like nothing is to much trouble and they will go the extra mile to make your stay perfect... Even if that is your husband ordering x3 of the amazing blueberry trifle's served at breakfast!

Fantastic trip, looking foward to planing the next one!

Omg, what can I say, booked at very short notice and was truly lucky to get a room, nothing has been overlooked, where do I start, most luxurious accommodation ever, beautiful setting, fabulous hosts, amazing breakfast, spent a whole 24 hours just noticing finer detail after final detail, after this I feel I will be disappointed with anything else, we intended to go for a walk, chrissy even offered to take us to the pub (up the hill) and bringnus back, but decided not to bother, good job we look a picnic with us lol! Woth every penny of the price.

Room Tip: Two rooms have fabulous baths and the room we had had the most amazing shower in a room larger than...

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this wonderful place, it really is something special... Room (Dawson Suite) beautifully designed. The bathroom is amazing, you have simply got to see it to believe it, breakfast in your suite a fantastic idea and truly scrummy. Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon are to die for! Added extras such as fully stocked mini bar along with various teas and coffee, hair straighteners, iPod, gorgeous toiletries... The list is endless! And finally such lovely hosts and team, nothing is too much trouble. Can't wait to go back.....

Room Tip: All special in their own way

Randy Pike is one of those places you don't want to share with others as you want it to be available when you return again! But this place was truely fabulous and such a perfect place for my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday - we both really, really loved staying here and it was very difficult to leave. So much so, that before we had left I had already booked another stay.

From the delicious raspberry and white chocolate muffins on arrival, everything was just perfect and above and beyond in every way. Our suite had the real wow factor and was beautifully furnished, it was so nice to open the doors and let the countryside in - the location is superb as its so close to both Hawkshead and Ambleside but set on its own in the countryside - there are fantastic walks straight from the door.

A real treat was having Chrissy chaffeur us to The Jumble Room, we both said it will be hard to find a better place to eat in the Lakes, I would definitely recommend a meal here if you are staying at Randy Pike. Which leads me onto the breakfasts at Randy Pike - what a fabulous, delicious and gorgeous feast - everyone should try the breakfast trifle (I would stay for that alone!) - and the choice of cooked breakfasts was superb. Chrissy is an amazing chef and a special thank you must go to Ewa who served us breakfast each morning. One morning we were lucky enough to eat outside on the patio area, but we also loved eating in our room too.

I could repeat what everyone else has said before and more - Chrissy and Andy have created somewhere perfect that we have been lucky enough to share for a few days and will keep returning to again and again! We both love the Lake District and this is somewhere special to stay - such a real treat!

Just had a fabulous weekend celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary at Randy Pike in Ambleside, the best place we have ever stayed. The wonderful hosts Chrissy & Andy who run it and can't do enough for you. We were chauffeured to and from their restaurant The Jumble Rooms in Grasmere for a special meal, the breakfasts are to die for, everything in the room you could hope for, such a special place we want to go back very soon.

Room Tip: All rooms equally beautiful

Stayed here for a few days after our wedding last December. It truly was a treat - everything about this place is beautiful - location, room, bathroom, breakfasts. Everything is top notch quality. If you are looking for somewhere for a special occasion, or just to treat yourself - this is the one!

Room Tip: All the rooms are incredibly beautiful and individual.

I honestly can't find the superlatives to describe this place. The owners and team were very friendly and welcoming and went over and above the call of duty to make our stay perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. We forgot our camera - they lent us theirs. We arrived sunburnt, after sun lotion appeared. We walked until we were blistered and plasters were offered. We asked about a walk and Andy wrote us his personal guide. The food was incredible, generous and delicious. The bedroom beautiful, bathroom luxurious beyond belief and the views stunning. The only negative was having to leave. But we will definitely definitely be back. Can't wait. PS Dinner one night at the Jumble Inn and another at the Drunken Duck, both very good.

Room Tip: Two have baths, one just has a shower. All a similar quality though.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Randy Pike is our home on the outskirts of Ambleside in the heart of the English Lake District. Once a Gentleman’s Hunting lodge on the Wray castle Estate we have just recently returned it to its former glory... Randy Pike is Lakeland's sexiest new bed and breakfast, and yet B and B is it truly in its very simplest form, the suites are large and luxurious that have kept the character and feeling of that iconic neo-gothic era and yet marry perfectly with the all the modern facilities you'd expect with Vi-sprung beds, cloaked in the very best frette line and plump crisp pillows, there's a flat screen tv, i-pod dock, tea and fresh coffee. The Showers are the size of a small country, warm, funky and sexy... there's truly nothing out there like them. Andy and Chrissy Hill ... more   less
