We are regular visitors to the Lakes, but this was our first stay at the Waterhead Hotel, having taken advantage of a 'kgbdeal' offer for a short break. We were not disappointed, with the hotel reaching a really high standard in all areas. The recently re-furbished rooms were fantastic, with modern en-suite and all the expected facilities you would want in a four-star hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the breakfast selection left us wanting for nothing.

On a two-night package, we dined in the hotel for the first night, and whilst the menu could have been more adventurous, the food was well prepared and tasty. As with many hotels in the area, parking was a bit of a lottery, but the hotel does have quite a few spaces, and we managed to find one on both nights. Overall, we were really happy with our stay, and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

We stayed for two nights. And they were two of the comfiest nights we have had in a hotel. The room had the best heating control we have ever come across ... warm before bedtime, cool during the night! Every detail of the room was well thought out, including a bottom exfoliator in the bath - though this was possibly just the anti-slip mat for the shower :-) Overall a very enjoyable stay. Top tip - be the first couple down to breakfast to get the nicest view of the lake.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Waterside for one night in early September. we had originally booked to stay at Applegarth villas in Windermere ( dont bother! Horrible staff, horrible manager, very unprofessional). We stumbled upon The Waterside by accident and didnt think there would be any rooms left as we left it quite late to book.We were met by a young girl on reception(forget her name sorry) but she couldnt do enough for us and was very helpful. There was only one deluxe room left so we had a look and it was wonderful and not too expensive. The staff at the Hotel were fantastic, even when we got home quite late and the kitchen was closed they made us a sandwich and brought it to our room. the room had an amazing view of the lake and the location of the hotel is fantastic i cant reccomend this place enough. breakfast in bed was beautiful and we would thouroughly reccomend this hotel to people, especially couples as it is a very romantic place.

Have just left this hotel and am completely chilled and relaxed Fab location terrific staff who are on hand the instant you want something. We stayed for two nights and had dinner on our second night and breakfast both mornings. Lovely food. Very interesting hot choices for breakfast. Yes you can have your traditional english, which was very nice, but also try the pancakes, syrup and bacon or the haddock and poached egg or eggs Benedictine . Scrumptious! The rooms are immaculate and the bed so comfy I really didn't want to get up. Vast choices of tea coffee and other hot drinks in room along with lovely fresh gingerbread. Plush towels and very nice products in the stylish bathroom. Every evening our bed was turned down while we were enjoying the comfy bar area and any dirty cups washed for the morning with choccies left on the pillows. The very best of charming old fashioned service. The only niggle and it really is a small one is the lack of hanging space in the wardrobe and nowhere for me to rest
my suitcase. Would return in a heartbeat given the chance.

We stayed on a two night break which we got on a voucher deal. It turned out to be a great deal. Really nice rooms with comfy bed, great tea and coffee facilities, DVD player and tv, modern and clean bathroom . The breakfast which was included in our deal was also really good ( would've been expensive if not included at £19 p.p). Great location next to the lake and pier for boat trips, and a 10/15 min walk to the shops and restaurants in the centre of Ambleside. Would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing short break at this lovely hotel. The staff are very accomodating and pleasant. A lake view room was an added bonus. Little extras like binoculars, fruit and your very own fluffy dog were much appreciated and must recommend the delicious Grasmere gingerbread on the hospitality tray. My only mistake was to have the window wide open on the first night leading to our jokey complaint to ' Shut the clucking duck up'. What are whinging townies like?

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are breathtaking.
