I stayed for one night with my sister and had a fabulous stay! The quality of the rooms is excellent, comfy beds and very peaceful, enjoyed the jacuzzi bath! The new Spa rooms are just lovely and the leisure club is perfect - all in all an excellent stay. The staff are very welcoming and so good to see so many familiar faces - the owner must make them feel very valued. We will be back with the family - a perfect stay in every waqy.

Room Tip: All rooms are great - some lovely views over the Beck at the back - but all are quiet,

Thank you very much for your great review so pleased you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the comments on how great our facilities are. We are especially lucky to have such a great staff they are a real asset to the hotel. This year is our 25th anniversary year and we are very proud of the fact that over 60% of our staff have over 10 years service and quite a few that have the full 25 a great acheivement in this industry. Of course we are also lucky to have a great owner who not only looks after the hotel but his staff as well.Look forward to you returning with your family.

The hotel's exterior belies what is inside. The public rooms are bright and recently decorated. Perfect for relaxing with a book or having a quiet drink.
The health club, only three years old, has a sizeable pool, good sauna and a pleasant outdoor hot tub. Just the job after a strenuous day on the fells. The gym also has a good selection of equipment.
My party all had a double room each at £90.90 for two nights' B&B. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a great shower in a spotless bathroom. The modern lift is helpful if you have a second floor room.
The breakfasts were excellent with a great choice of fruit, salmon, smoked haddock as well as the Full English.
Although we didn't have an evening meal, the menu looked attractive and reasonably priced and the dining room was very pleasant
The staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful, with advice on places to eat and directions in the town.
There is a secure car park next to the hotel and we were allowed to leave the cars there before the official checking in time and after checking out.
We all agreed that we would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in the Lodge House at the back of the hotel which costs a little more but you get the free slippers and bath robes etc and more importantly you get a decking balcony with patio furniture overlooking a lovely view of a flowing river and woodland. The room and breakfast and hotel were nothing short of perfect, absolutely lovely setting and perfectly situated at the top of the ring rd in Ambleside, everything is on your doorstep. Make sure you get to use the jaccuzzi and steam room and also the outdoor hot-tub which is brilliant. I would definitely return here again.

This is a hotel we return to on a regular basis for one or two nights break in the Lakes. We also eat in the bistro when staying in a local cottage for longer holidays. The Salutation is well run, clean, comfortable and with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts are varied and meals in the Bistro very good quality. A great advantage is being right in the centre of the village yet rooms are peaceful. The only downfall we have is the car-park, on busy days with a large car it can be a little tight.

Room Tip: never had a bad room, staff always happy to advise where a choice is available

Thank you for your review, it's good to know returning guest's enjoy all our facilities, food and friendly staff, it makes it all worth while.Thank you for your comments about parking, we do have 52 car park spaces one for each room but apprecaite that sometimes with a large car parking could feel tight. We do now have 4 extra car parking spaces off the main hotel carpark that we can use for larger cars, we are always happy to assit our guest's with parking , just ask the guys on reception, look forward to welcoming you back soon, many thanks.

We stayed as a group of 12, occupying 6 of the club rooms in Wansfell Lodge at the back. Our room was superb, very clean, well appointed with a small jacuzzi bath and views out to the river behind. It really felt like been a private lodge, but having facilities in the hotel. The leisure facilities are second to none, great pool, Steam Room, Sauna and out door hot tub (although would be better if it was slightly larger !). The whole hotel is very clean and elegant, without been fussy, with some lovely areas where you can relax. We dined at the hotel on Friday night and offered great VFM at £23 for 3 courses (bookable in advance) , Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a while, great choice and agree that the porridge is great. The bar closes at 1130, but they have even thought about that by installing a machine where you can buy a small bottle of wine, leaving glasses on the side for use. The staff are very friendly, We would definately stay here again, as would our guests.

Just returned from staying the weekend at the hotel weekend break with my husband. We have stayed before some years ago now. I was shocked by the standard of the double room. Very dark, dismal and extremely hot and although clean the quality of the bedding was poor. I do appreciate that they have executive club rooms but feel for the prices charged all double rooms should be up to a certain standard. If I hadn't prepaid I would not have stayed and I certainly would not stay again or recommend. The only saving grace was there breakfasts.

I stayed here with my wife on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th February. It's the Best hotel I've stayed in for a long time. The leisure complex is excellent. Breakfast is just awesome with a fantastic choice. The room was on the second floor almost bang in the middle at the front overlooking the town, it was a nice luxury room with a jacuzzi bath, with a very powerful power shower 'wow'. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they make the stay extra special. Will defiantly stay again the next time we are there. '3 stars' .... Should be at least a 4 star.

Room Tip: Try the porridge at breakfast, ummmm, it's lovely.
