Visited this lovely cafe on friday at the end of our holiday, wish we had discovered it sooner. The smoky black bean tortillas were delicious. Only wish we'd saved room for cake!!
Will definately be back when we are next in Ambleside.

“Lovely Cafe”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed in Ambleside for the week, and went to the rattle gill for our lunch one day, lovely rustic charm with very good food and homemade cakes, good value for money and nice staff. We went back a couple of times as we really enjoyed it, it was the best place for food out of all the places we ate.

“Recommended, especially if you like vegetarian food.”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Just had lunch here, homemade quiche couscous and a selection of salads on the side. Food was really excellent and the portions were more than generous. A bit different from the local competition, has comfortable slightly alternative feel about it. The staff seemed nice and friendly. Recommended, especially if you like vegetarian food.

“Warm welcome, great location, super veggie food”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

Returned with the family after my daughter had discovered this café earlier in the week. (She highly recommended the sharing cake plate.) This time we had chilli and fresh bread, soup combos and fragrant cappuccino. My husband said the cheese and pickle panini was the best he'd ever had and the carrot soup was delicious too. Tiny café was full to overflowing so we sat outside in sight of the water wheel and listened to the running of the beck. Chairs were fetched for us so we sat comfortably in the sunshine. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend.

“a bit different”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We found this cafe as we wandered the back streets of Ambleside. It appealed because it was a bit different from the standard cafes we'd seen on the main streets. The lunch we had was excellent and filling but we managed to share a cake tasting board which was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and efficient
