“Very welcoming and friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2012

We have just come back from a one night stay which we really enjoyed. We have never experienced a wonderful welcoming reception as we did here. When you get there you are greeted as soon as you get out the car. There are three rooms, we had one of the two rooms upstairs, the view from there was amazing. The room was clean, the bed was very comfy and had a gorgeous smell of lovely clean sheets. You were offered tea and coffee to sit out on the decking which was a nice touch.

The guesthouse was up a quiet country lane and in easy walking distance into Ambleside. Perfect location to visit the pubs and shops. We would highly recommend staying here, if we were to visit Ambleside again we would not stay anywhere else.

Thanks Paul and Sharon for a memorable stay for our wedding anniversary.

Just back from a two night stay at the Wynford. Excellent location, house was clean and comfortable. Sharon and paul great hosts, and their little grand-daughter was the entertainment for Breakfast time. Will definately be back, in the future.

The B&B is situated along a narrow lane, car parking is provided which is really handy. On arrival we received a friendly greeting from Paul and Sharon along with 'tea for two' served on the patio, we immediately felt very welcome. We stayed in the downstairs room, which is quite compact but we found it perfectly adequate. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided, ample storage space, clean ensuite bathroom and a comfy bed that didn't feel like we were sleeping on a slope, complemented with nice pillows - not rocks, like some places offer! Breakfast is served 8:30am until 9:00am, which was later than we are used to but it was well worth the wait - lots of choice and well presented. The location is great as it is quiet and relaxing yet only a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle in Ambleside. We would definitely visit again.

We stayed for 3 nights. Two in one of the upstairs rooms and one in a much smaller downstairs room as the others were booked. Sharon and Paul were very welcoming and had lots of helpful ideas on places to visit and hike. I would suggest you plan to use public transport wherever possible. It is excellent and the Lake District parking lots are expensive and intimidating and the approach to the B&B very narrow. The upside of this is that you are very close to the fells and to several walks up into the hills and over to Grasmere. Very quiet and relaxing stay. The upstairs rooms are large and comfortable. The small one downstairs a little tight but very good value. Breakfast was a delight, watching the bird feeders outside the windows.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are bigger and have a better view. Can either be twin or king size. Downstairs small...

We stayed two nights and enjoyed ourselves a lot. A nice, clean, modern and quiet guest house away from the centre of Ambleside and yet close enough to stroll to restaurants in 10 minutes.
It is situated on a lane which takes you on a lovely fell walk.
Breakfast is good and the eggs are supplied by hens which are kept across the lane. Paul and Sharon are both locals and can advise on walks or places to eat.

Have visited Ambleside many, many times, but this was our first stay at The Wynford - I doubt it will be our last! Paul and Sharon were there on our arrival to welcome us, and settle us in with a much appreciated cuppa, which we were able to enjoy outside in the late afternoon sunshine. We were made to feel welcome from the off, and were very happy with our room, the breakfasts, etc, etc....Its a bit of a walk back up the lane after an evening wining and dining in Ambleside, but worth the effort.

We arrived and were made very welcome by Sharon who showed us to our room - The room had everything we needed for a 3 night stay whilst seeing a few sights and doing some walking in the area. With only 3 rooms it's a nice friendly atmosphere and both Paul and Sharon dealt with us most pleasantly. I'd stay there again. Vegetarian breakfast was catered for without fuss and although the road was tricky to drive up and down (very narrow) it is nice to be able to leave the car there whilst walking the ten minutes into Ambleside.

Room Tip: We had room number 2 and I think room number 1 had a bigger bed, but that's about all I can say.
