“RUBY WEDDING SPECIAL”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Having stayed here previously we booked five rooms for our family to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. As expected the reception and service throughout was friendly and efficient, food was very good. We stayed on for the rest of the week after the others had left and the staff made sure that a rather large rose, which we had been given, was carefully looked after during our stay.

The place has a lovely setting by the Lake. The restaurant looks out onto a delightful courtyard, which was a mass of flowers. The previous visits were special treats after finished the Dales Way so we have fond memories of the place. We were certainly not disappointed this time and will be back sometime.

What a refreshing change, a hotel where the staff were local and genuinely friendly and attentive from the moment we rang on the off chance they may have a room as we drove past one Friday evening after our planned trip went wrong. We had a courtyard double room which was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. A comfortable lounge and bar again with excellent service by the staff. The hotel is literally over the road from the end of lake Windermere with beautiful views of the fells. The hotel has a very open feel about it with courtyard rooms and lodges out the back and plenty of parking. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge choice from the full works to pancakes or kippers. Again all served by friendly local staff! Breakfast is served until 12 o'clock miday. We have being staying in the lakes for the past 20years from camping, yurts, cabins, cottages and hotels and we have driven past this hotel many times. However after this "chance stay" we will definitely be staying again. Could not fault it for the price we paid of £119 B&B. Well done the Regent.

We stayed at the Regent for a three night getaway. Fabulous hotel, great staff, fantastic service. We ate from the bar menu every evening, preferring a more casual dining experience and it was beyond our expectations. The food was delicious and beautifully presented- too nice to really call it a bar meal ! We stayed in a garden room and would recommend it as we were able to take advantage of the veranda and warm summer evenings. The lake was across the road and was the perfect location for a stroll by the water.
Thank you to everyone who made our stay so fantastic

Room Tip: Garden rooms are great if you want some sitting out space

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Regent. Ideal location, easy to find and ample free parking. We ate in the restaurant our first night and the food was lovely, plenty of choice for breakfast also. We stayed in a courtyard room, which is a quiet location. The service provided here was second to none, staff very friendly, helpful. We will definitely return here and recommend to others.
The only change I could recommend to the hotel is to invest in some summer quilts, as those used are far to thick for this lovely British weather we are currently experiencing. Other than that everything was perfect.

A very good first impression, the hotel is situated on the lakeside just south of Ambleside and very easy to find it provides ample parking and the main entrance is very inviting. Our room was on the second floor on the back of the building and although well fitted was a little on the small side. We were lucky with the weather and had the windows flung open both day and night unfortunately this meant cooking smells in our room at breakfast and dinner times. The breakfast menu was very impressive and we also had dinner in the restaurant one night the food was excellent and I would recommend eating there, although service in the evening was a little slow. In addition we took advantage of the offer of packed lunches which were good quality and value for money. The bar area is comfortable but again service was a little slow with staff stretched across a number of competing duties.
Would we stay again? Yes : - )

Brilliant location, friendly staff and lovely food, 'The Regent' has the lot. Already planning to return. P.S take on the amazing 'The Fell Walker English breakfast' if you're brave or starving. It's fantastic.

Yes I certainly would. Weather aside as we have no control over it, the first impressions on arriving at the hotel were excellent. The young woman on reception (I think she was called Lucy) was very welcoming and made us feel as though we were welcomed guests. The reception area was very clean and tidy with information about the surrounding area, including leaflets describing circular walks of varying lengths from the hotel. Stephen showed us to our room and again he was very good at making us feel very welcome. We stayed in one of the "Garden rooms" which is a small annex at the rear of the hotel accommodating about four rooms. The room was excellent and had everything in it that you would expect from a hotel of this calibre and an added bonus for us was the fact it was very quiet. Breakfast was included and boy what a breakfast it was. It's the first time I've known breakfast be served until 12.30 noon with the choices that are available, superb, and it definitely sets you up for the day. We did sample the evening meals both the restaurant and bar menus and found the meals were very good and the staff were all very friendly and just couldn't do enough for us. This was a first time at this hotel for us although other people we met who were staying there had been to the hotel many times and that in itself has to be a good recommendation. Well done to everyone concerned, keep up the good work.
